I got the hint v.v I'll cancel the training map.. But then I´ve got nothing to beta-test anymore . Why? We need a training map, badly. Don't cancel it. CONTINUE Seconded.

I just don't know what's the use of a training map if everyone says it is not important.. I'll keep it on my hard drive but I will not continue till uwasa gave me his opinion of what I got so far..

Ok, to end this discussion, no the training will NOT be mandatory, and I'm sick, SICK of people who act like there's no need for one. It just shows that you have no ability to put yourself in other's shoes or think about anything but yourself. Sorry if that's harsh, but I try to put myself in others' shoes... I love helping people learn the game, and I feel a sense of pride when we get past a door the first time and he's/she's automatically turning to help me weld. The game's about teamwork, afterall. I want new people to find this game... I want them to learn it, to love it, and to play it. Everyone. Even Fraser. This project will live and die by the fan base, and we need it to build. That means making it approachable for new folk. Can you imagine just plunking into this game without any prior knowledge of it? You suddenly have 60 seconds not only to find the trainer, but to figure out how to use her, how to buy weapons, how to click complete when you do... all before the timer ends. If it does before you hit that complete, you have a pistol, a wall of 30-40 creatures and a ton of frustration. Not a good recipe for repeat gaming. Isn't that good enough of an answer? He wants a training mission, and you're the one working on it, so keep going.

I'm not sure I'm doing it the right way and I won't go on till he told me what to change about it.. it will be a pain in the butt having to start all over again when it is done..

I don't understand why a training map is being made by a noobie 0.o, I mean players wont be able to understand were the hell there going or doing without an experienced mapper making it.

I'm not sure I'm doing it the right way and I won't go on till he told me what to change about it.. it will be a pain in the butt having to start all over again when it is done.. How about saving the maps in different stages of development ? For example each time you integrate another room, or at the end of each bigger mapping session. You could easily go back then in case you did some major mistake. I know you still want Uwasawaya´s opinion, but it´s a thing you can do in the meantime.

Yeah, in my opinion, both a map and a tutorial is necessary. Tutorial takes precedence, though.
Lara, if you are uncertain about how development is going, send some pictures of the map in progress to various people around here that you trust; you've got more or less the support of the entire community, I'm sure everyone here would be willing to help you out.
And STFU fraser. It takes a lot of balls to brand Lara a newbie, but exponentially more to step up to the task of creating a tutorial map without a large amount of prior experience. Lara=More balls than you.

Look at it this way Lara: if fraser thinks its a bad idea for you to do it then you know it has to be a good idea to do it. Personally I think you'll do a great job, and it'll be a huge help to all the newbies...I mean, I'm sure we've all had games where a guy gets frustrated because he can't figure out what to do, then quits never to return.

Thought I'd post a shot to show the fact that I got no experience does not make me a crappy mapper, not great either but I am not as noobie as you'd expect a unexperienced mapper to be. Does not look too terrible does it? >.>
