I mainly meant for the grass that you might ofh ad outside walking areas and etc, some people don't turn off the collision because it's not in the way to be hit. I'm sending you a PM with my e-mail now

turning collision off, is the same thing as setting the things to false. Just, don't worry about it, I'll take a look at that map when I get home and check the stuff myself so you don't have to worry about it

Grim helped me a lot lately "dude, 30 lights in a room are not a good idea" but my map still laggs and I dont want to use Grim as my personal beta tester, so if anybody has an Idea why it laggs, I would be happy to hear your thoughts! hers what its NOT: -the lighting -the textures -the objects

Have you set up antiportals? Have you set up zone portals? Any other optimization?
Otherwis i can't really think of a reason. buh.
Are all the textures/smeshes from different packages?

Have you set up antiportals? Have you set up zone portals? Any other optimization? Are all the textures/smeshes from different packages? To expand on that... Are the zoneportals set up properly? Do you have zoneinfos in each zone? Are they in suitable places? If there is any more optimization...it wont make it lagg It doesnt matter if textures/smeshes are in different packages. ut2004 loads them in before the game starts, not dynamically. If you want faster map loads, put all the textures and smeshes in mylevel.

It's the grass which is doing it, really. I had an area on wasteyard with buttloads of collision-free grass smeshes, and it still horrificly reduced performance, even with zoing, antiportals, cull distance etc. So I'd use a terrain (56x56 and scale it up to size), hide it just under the bottom of your map, and add terrain based grass. The performance gain is extreme. I'd show you myself.. except I don't have UT. still.

Hey Doyora, thanks that really helps me. I guess I will read a toturial about maink terrain. You say I make just a little tile of terrain somewhere outside the actual map and then add grass where I want not minding the terrain? Thats genious! I´ll try asap!

nah, I mean in the middle of the map, make a small tile of terrain, then using the terrain scaling, set it quite high, and it will stretch out all under your map. Then, add the grass decolayer, and then raise the terrain where you want the grass so that it is visible, but the actual terrain is not.
Anyway, I ordered UT so I'll be able to show you soon enough if you can't get it to work.

I cant... Im about to give up. I basicly decstroyed most of the stuff I had (lighting, objects) to find the cause and to reply to Kalkus, I avnt set up antiportals, zonportals or any por-whaaaats?! Mainly because I= noob (or even b00n, if you want to). I saw those funny zones in the KF maps I looked at but couldnt figure out their meaing so I though I would just be able to go without them. Guess I cant.

Just like the army say: If you have a plan, stick to it. Don't lose hope.

Don't get discouraged yet. It's a good map that people seem to be behind. It takes a while to get use to, you just need to learn things, my first map was a great learning experience for me, things were off, tons of things didn't work right, and sizing just was horrible. But hey, it let me learn a lot of things, I scrapped the map after working weeks on it, even though it sucked from the start. And then created a new, cheap one, which I released and it just sucks and I hear it lags on most computers But it at least taught me how to use everything, and I work on another map here and there, so even if you dislike how yours is turning out, at least continue to work on it till you get use to it, then you may you know, make a new map without too many problems
