Yeah, I only noticed the third time I watched the series. Usually the third time I watch an anime, the little insignificant things pop up I overwatched earlier... and I notice errors in certain places... There is a lot of nudity in that anime, of course it is covered with blood... usually. Actually everything get's covered with blood in the end... hehe... not like in Excel Saga's special episode, but still.
Anyway, Elfen Lied remains the most disturbing horror I we seen, not only because of the cruel massacre and blood shed, but the very idea of a rothen evil society, which calls itself civilized. Amen.

Well the nudity was what I like least about elfen lied, it is also the reason it was never (long) viewable on US (and because of that also Europese) television.. They block everything even if it only contains one visible breast, and since the US controls all the export from Japan to europe.... Ugggh

Yeah, Americans are weird... they'll let five yearolds see creatures tear apart humans into bloody masses, innards everywhere with their screams echoing. Yet, ANY refrence to sexual things(Which is more natural than humans being torn apart by mutants/aliens/zombies/ect), is the WORST possible thing, EVER.
It bugs me.
And nudety in animes bugs me aswell, because I have to sit there watching it, when anyone could walk in at any second, how am I supposed to explain that?
That was really the only bad part about Elfen Lied. Aside from how short it is. But then again, the short-ness is better; because now we don't have to see the terrible ending.

No, the ending in the Anime is fine, but the ending in the manga is disgusting. I HATE the ending in the manga.

Haven't read the Elfen Lied manga... I should read it. The 13th episode messes up the anime ending. Regardless of nudity or whatsoever, I seen too much of it to bother me. I grow rather fond of nudity. I look forward shooting naked zombies... when KF 2.0 comes out, that is. Other than that, nudity is part of our culture. Especially classical european culture. Americans, spare me. I seen enough of hypocritic bullshit.

There are two anime titles I strongly recommend: 1. Ninja Scroll My all time favourite. The story is beautiful and sad at the same time and I really like the ninja martial arts style, with those colorful fighting scenes. Interesting characters and a little amount of humor too. The ending theme is also very good. Goose bumps guranteed! I desperately search the japanese originals. 2. Jin-Roh Very good and sad story and I love this anime just because of the ending theme (well, the first 2 min. 30s). It's one of the most beautiful and most remarkable songs I've ever heard in animes, it makes me shiver all the time. I wish I could find the lyrics somewhere. I'm just listening to it *dreams*. [Hajime Mizoguchi - Main Theme Omega] in case you want to know. I'm very into nice soundtracks from animes, especially like the above mentioned tracks, so if you can recommend any fitting track, please don't hesitate to spam my PM box

The Jin Roh theme can be found just about anywhere... and there is an excellent fan site with information about the film and soundtrack (with a pretty good amount of info on the guns, Abyx), but I can't remember it... it's not hard to find though. It also has some explanations on the lyrics for the theme of Jin Roh (which actually aren't words at all...).
Ninja Scroll I felt was way too hyped... like Akira... just one of those "ooh, anime, boobs and gore!" kind of experiences... I liked the way certain mythological creatures were represented, but I felt it lacking... and DON'T see Ninja Resurection... it is criminally bad, and has no connection to the first film at all... in fact, if you want to see it, stab a fork in the back of your hand... twice. That's close enough.

That's close enough. I did see Ninja Ressurrection in hope to see the sequel to Ninja Scroll, but I got disappointed and I agree, that it wasn't the best of the best animes out there. Akira isn't that good at all too, in fact me and my friend found it a little bit weird, while watching it. The amount of boobs in Ninja Scroll wasn't that overwhelming to my pleasure, because I'm not so much into the hentai boob slicing style. I'd rather like to see a good story, good character design and a nice theme. Others I've watched and liked: - Perfect Blue How often you get the opportunity to watch an anime thriller? Brilliant story. - Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust Nice fantasy theme. The first one was quite good to. - Blood - The last Vampire Interesting overall design. Too bad it was so short. - Spriggan Crazy plot and acting, but I liked the action. There are so many more I'd like too watch and maybe I can see Ghost in the Shell someday to judge myself, whether it's that good like most people say

Soul, seems like you and I like a lot of the same anime... Perfect Blue I just watched with my roommates a few days ago... I love the way people who see it the first time visibly jump every time a dream/acting transition occurs... lol... and I love the others, cept Spriggan, which I haven't seen.
I have to say though, stating you and your friend found Akira "weird" is like saying that fire is "hot"... it was rendered almost incomprehensible compared to the manga, and depending on the translation, it changes it's ideas entirely... I think it was mostly just a jab at intellectual entertainment, and ended up being way too muddled.
Ghost in the Shell was tough to watch the first time, but a second or third viewing really impressed me... it's very thoughtful and slow, like Jin Roh. The final combat scene is probably one of the most haunting battles in anime history... and the theme, "Floating Museum", is an awesome piece of music.

The thing with Akira was maybe, that we completely weren't prepared of what would be going on in this anime. I never read mangas nor did he, we just got the cassette from someone to watch. This was our first anime ever also, so I think you can pretty much imagine now, how "weird" it looked for us, without any clue of the anime itself or the manga. We just went "WTF? What the hell is this all about? Whole cities blow up and shit?" lol... I never watched it again since. Maybe I should give it another chance, considering the fact, that we were rather young the first time and not so much into wasting many thoughts on a movie's plot. I think I'll watch it and get back to you for questions, in case it blew my mind a second time
