Well, we do. There's quite often a long queue to get into teh Geisterbahn server, and I'm sure there are people with a second computer at home. Why not host a dedicated server on it? Need help? Start off here.

Apparently I have got 50kb/s upstream, I'll get my high performance laptop set up on my high performance desk next to my high performance and eco-friendly light bulb and try to dedicate it on Linux.
If magic happens, and it actually works, I'll be hosting the community patch....

ask away if u got any questions bout lin ive already done kf servers under suse and debian, both on 64 and 32 bit versions I use Ubuntu, and I'm going to install the standalone server package..sounds a heck of a lot easier. Thanks, I'll contact you soon, no doubt something won't work <_< Waiting for my CD Key to arrive, it didn't display in either Firefox or Internet Explorer 7. And I've used 3 emails now :-\ Hopefully it will arrive soon...

The standalone package failed at half way through the 3 hour download, and I couldn't be assed.
I installed ut2004 with my own DVD, hopefully the master server won't care for me using the cd key twice...
Going to get everything setup now...
Ubuntu is a derivate(?) of Debian. It uses .deb files as well.

I would really like itif I could open a server for u guys, but I tried nearly everything and still the server stays N/A. (I did it on my machine with the original UT, not the stand alone dedicated server but i still did a dedicated server]).

// In general, a derivate is a product originated from an entity.
u can play and host a server with the same key but i dunno how it goes for 2 servers

My server works...sorta.
It was a problem I know Grim/Micah experienced before. You can only join via IP address, which isin't very useful.
It just doesn't work joining over the server browser, does anybody know why this happens? All the ports are open. I'm going to tweak a couple settings and see if it works better.
Then get my "awesomest" FTP server working as a redirect...Then name it funky stuff...maybe not the last one, etc.

if it isnt on the serverlist there is most probably a problem with the master server connection or maybe u set it to lan only? look into the kf log in the kf system folder and tell me what ya see

I'll edit my post in a minute to show the log... I just checked, the server browser shows the ip address as something totally bizzare, as in the port... it shows the correct ip but then a crazy port "XXX.XXX.XXX:217482" or something. This is the problem... EDIT: Theres nothing in the log that worries me. Another EDIT: Xfire gets the port right Yet another EDIT: Ran a speed test, I was lieing about 50kb/s actually...It's 372kb/s, which is fine for 6 people.

im not sure about how many numbers a port can have however i am sure that u cannot bind stuff to ports below 1000 as nonroot so maybe that one is auto generated or sumthin

My ports are setup perfectly fine, it usually binds 7778 AFAIK as the port, so thats what it should be, but where it gets :24178 from....Not a clue...
