OK. I was playing Land of the Dead for the PC, and i was thinking about what would people really do in a Zombie epidemic. And since this is the only place i could ask without sounding extremley morbid or creepy in other message boards, i'd thought i would ask here. I just want to hear people's thoughts and opinions on the matter.

Probably they would kill eachothere trying to survive themselves ;D... Or just do what Humans are allways doing. Crawling together like sheep into anything that can be defended easely

Heh. Yeah, that's very possible considering Human nature. I would probably gather some supplies, go to the gunshop and buy a Benelli shotgun, make some moltov cocktails, grab a 9mm just in case, and head to the Mall, since that'll probably attract some other people which would increase my chances of survival, and it would have everything i would ever need (even weapons since there is a gunshop inside the mall where i live... heh, go figure).

My dorm room is on the seventh floor of our building. The main stairs don't go past floor 3, and the fire stairs can't be opened from the first three floors(no handle, opens outwards, has a deadbolt which would no doubt be locked during the invasion). The only way up is an elevator which requires an ID card to get the doors open, so zombies couldn't get in that way. ALL the doors(save the main ones that enter to the lobbey, which are glass)are heavy, made of metal, open towards you, and have an electronic lock and a physical deadbolt; it is physically impossible to force the doors down by pushing on them without a wrecking ball or a tractor, and only then because you'd take the wall down with it. The cafeteria is on the floor above me, and they have enough fresh, frozen and perserved food/water to last the population of the dorm a solid three months. We've got a few security guards that live here so we have a few guns, a bit of ammo, and some people that know how to use them in the off chance a zombie does make it up here, plus we've got a bunch of outdoorsman types and jocks so we've got knives/bats/hockey sticks if it comes to that. And, since its a college dorm, video games, TV(if the reception is still working), magazines, cards, etc. to keep us busy. If the zombie epidemic hits I'll be chillin' with mah homies, although I will grant you the lobbey will likely be overrun with the undead. All we've really got to do is wait for the military to come helicopter us outta here, as I do not believe for an instant the zombies could take out the military. Honestly, any really urban area is likely safe from zombie attacks due to the abundance of firearms. Imagine: the urban dead vs. an urban gang. "I'm goin'a cap yo undead ass, bitch!"

You thought this one out many times didnt you? Anyway, would the zombies you're talking about be George A Romero Zombies? Or the standard ones? The ones that i would imagine would be George A Romero, since it would be at the worst case scenario.

We had a contest on halloween: why is your dorm the best place to survive a zombie attack? Guess who won Anyway I always thought of Romero zombies as standard ones; which kind do you mean when you think of standard? I guess with Romero zombies they'll eventually evolve and figure out how to use the ID cards if they had them, but in the movies that takes a number of years and we'd be evacuated or dead from starvation well before that.

Well regarding your question, the Standard one in my book would be the regular slow walking ones, with no actual sign intelect what so ever. And the inability to evolve, and communicate. Pretty much like Knight of the Living Dead one.
Edit:
Yeah, i realize that he did do the entire *of the dead series, but the ones i'm referring to are the original ones. Where the zombies are slow and dumb as the standard.

I think eventually the Romero types become less of a threat, as with higher levels of evolution they stop being killing machina and start acting like they did as human(read:thriller) a'la Bob from Day of the Dead.

I never really did see the movie, so i'm kinda stumped there. But based on the previous Romero remake (Dawn of the Dead), and what i've read about Land of the Dead, i'd say that Bob would definatley be a pretty powerful zombie.

Day of the dead was, by far, in my opinion, the worst of George Romero's movies(to be fair I never saw day of the dead 2, which was supposedly among the worst movies of all time). Bob was basically domesticated, in that he was no longer violent and didn't try and eat the humans. While this might have been because one of the scientists was teaching him, I think that just accelerated the evolutionary process. He did end up shooting one of the characters in the end, but that was mostly because the guy was a jerk(read:the main villian) The more they evolve the smarter they are; the smarter they are the less violent they are.

Me? I'll probably join the zombies. They always get to have the best scenes in the zombie movies, so why not join them? ;D
