I'm not entirely sure of the capabilities of the Unreal Tournament 2K4 engine, but I was reading about this mod and I had a neat idea (though you may have already thought of it).
Basically, when a zombie kills a person, their view goes to third person and it shows that zombie dramatically taking a bite out of the player. I realize this might cause some balance problems (zombies becoming vulnerable after killing someone, etc.), but it seems to me that this would add a ton to the atmosphere of the game. Also, due to the large numbers, a vulnerable zombie here and there doesn't seem like too much of a problem.
However, as I said earlier, I'm not sure if the UT2K4 engine would suipport such a feature. I do know, however, that if I were playing this and had that happen to me that I would freak out (especially if it were all bloody and stuff, lol), and that's a good thing.

Not a bad idea. But do you mean, that that would be their kill move, meaning if you had 5 HP left and a zombie hit / grabbed you, it would play that animation ?
Or do you mean it would be just another attack type, which would slowly drain your HP, but not over a certain limit. (Meaning others could shoot that zombie off of you to help ya).
Either way, I'd like to see something like that ^_^ Or maybe the zombies munching on your dead corpse (of course, after every team mate has been killed).

As for the "when everyone's dead" thing, anything's better than floating around without animating like they do now. *grins*

The 5 HP thing is closer to what I was thinking (the one said by Acid), but to further explain myself:
When the final hit is delivered, the hit that puts the player's HP less than or equal to 0, the view zooms out to third person and then, after that previous hit, the zombie latches on to the player and takes a bite or two. You could even have it check to see if that zombie has eaten anything recently; if it has it just tosses the corpse aside instead of eating it.
I could see some difficulties with the "final hit and then latch on" method, though, so perhaps the interpretation Acid had would be more appropriate.
Oh yeah, while I'm thinking about the player's HP, an idea would be to let HP go less than 0. That way you could show the HP going even more negative as the zombie gnaws your throat ;D. Also, it would be cool to see just how badly you got mauled. I remember Quake 2 did that and it was funny to die in lava and watch your health drop to -99 as you melted.
The everyone's-dead-munching is a pretty cool idea, Acid, lol.

try it in first person, when u go down on the floor the zombie is clawing at you and the screen does that blur effect but much stronger and blood splatters and all that crap...then it goes all silent it zooms out into 3rd person directly above you ..and in this mode you will see how badly you have been mauled...may depend on what monster it was that munched you..oh and when ur on the floor gettiing splattered fitting in small glimpses of the zombie.

Yea but stuff like that might seem cool but it might take a long time to get done and then cause more bugs and even lag..
