Silent Hill 1 was only one that truely scared me... SH 2 was good, SH3 sucked... SH4 i liked.. it was so fucked up it was good, phyco's left and right, and you COULD NOT KILL THE ZOMBIES, the best you could do is stick a sword to nail em to the ground.

SH 1 is the absolute freakiest of the series. Creepy enemy design, great use of blood and gore. SH 2 had the most mature-themed storyline and also a great atmosphere in indoor levels. SH 3 had the cleanest graphics of them all and felt the most 'solid'. SH 4 was the weakest in my opinion, since it really wasn't supposed to be a SH game at all but a new horror franchise. It really shows the farther you get into the game, but still worthy of the Silent Hill name.

Silent Hill plot= Car crash and you msut find your lsot duaghter Silent Hill 2= Investigate the factuality of a letter from your dead wife talking about the town silent hill Silent Hill 3=bought it... played 20 mins of it.. Didnt care. Silent Hill 4= Survive the madness of a dead physco killer who thinks room 302 is his mommy...
Haha, i once watched a video of the making of Silent hill 2, the dude that doe sthe music for all the games was wearing bright pink skin tight metalic pants, and a black shiny shirt... The rest were jsut skinny asians, but they must be totally twisted in teh head... btw the music is genoius, i downloaded all of the sound tracks, i love the silent hill 1+2 theme songs, and i love "Room of Angel" song from silent hill 4.

Akira Yamaoka is a brilliant sound designer. Eric Brosius is the only other one I can think of who's on the same level.

I fell in love with the series through SH2 which is still my absolute favourite. I enjoyed SH1 aswell, but part 3 had it's ups and downs(the last levels where best IMO. I love being in your appartment in SH4, it scares the crap out of me, a lot more than the levels did. It's a genious idea, but a lot of the game maps sucked, and where a pain to get through. I got so mad when I had to "replay" them (lazy level designers...) that I haven't gotten to finish it yet. I'll do some day though, I just love the atmosphere and plot too much to miss anything. SH2 is just so beautiful. If you try it, give it a couple of hours. It starts getting really interesting after the first appartment level IMO.

yes SH1 and SH2 were very good, partly because they were open ended in a sense too. They were like a mystery as well as a horror. SH4 seems more linear path... even though they all are truely, the first 2 games hide that. I can watch horror films and laugh, i laughed at Saw and peopel thought i was insane, the only thing that has truely ever spooked me was silent hill 1, in the school. I Have never put down a game paddle before out of fear like that... then again.. i was 10 at the time... but i did it again when i was 15

SPOILER WARNING (highlight to read):
Both guys captured died. One died due to blood loss (after cutting through his leg), and the second one...well I suppose he died. The 'dead' guy in the middle of the room (who ends up being the psycho OMGWTFBBQ) just walked off, and locked him in.
Yeah, that's how it ends....

Silent hill was the scariest, i hated going around in the insane asylime and zombie children jump outa noware and attack me with a knife. Or the dogs in the dog house. Number 2 was AWSOME, was the best silent hill ever, though it was way to easy and the final boss can take 3 shot gun shells before she is dead. Though i like the idea of the 6 different endings. Silent hill 3 and 4 were flops. They were horrible. Number 3 was way to easy and baisic, number 4 didnt have much of a story line besides this guy and girl that are in the apartment thats possesed. But yea 1 and 2 are awsome.

Just searching for some things and ran across this While I'm sure it's been cited before I've never followed SH close enough outside of actually playing it. more on Hans Bellmer

I found out about Hans Bellmers stuff through some thread on another forum. That thing makes a down right freaky enemy. I love those 4 legged ones, the "straight jackets" and the nurses in SH2. Tried finding more and larger images of his work, but didn't find anything good...
