Desire spotted...
Situation A : you were near trader but your teammate were out far kill the last specimen. And need ammo for next wave on citywidedawn map. So he ask you to help buy ammo for him for next wave.
Situation B : you were with teammates busy killing specimens. One of your teammate cried oh no shit... No ammo..And that one group specimens came for him. So basically the only way for him to do is keep backing off and move. While waiting for you and teammates to clear the remaining for him.
Conclusion : it will be awesome if you could give few clips of ammo for him just to survive that wave assuming both of you had the same shotty instead of dropping him shotty while you carry on with 9mm fire.
Solution : im not coder.

While that would be cool, I remember you saying something about a GUI menu for swapping ammo.
Now as cool as that WOULD be, do you really think you're gonna stop in the middle of a firefight to open up a menu, carefully pick out the ammo you wanna give and then hit okay? You'd get killed because you couldn't really move while doing this, so then instead of one person getting killed, two would.
The alternative that I can think of, is allowing weapons that you already have to be picked up for their ammo like in most games(So then you could just throw them the entire gun for them to get the ammo). But then that could bring up issues of people being stuck with a 9mm or a bat because one person disinterested in teamwork, took all the weapons.

People could trade ammo between waves.
And I kinda like what 3verybody said. Have them roam around. It is kinda unrealistic and weird that every specimen knows your position at all times. Hmm, that would be a pain in the ass to find the last one roaming around though... Maybe a mutator or mode where they continually spawn and roam around randomly until you come close to them, and you have to collect stuff around the map. The more things you collect, more harder specimens spawn. And you have to collect 50 of them or something. This probably belongs with the boss that won't be made, I'm just brainstorming.

I believe they always "know where you are" because if they go too far away, they like to kill themselves.

The only way to get them to not "Know where you are" is to remove pathnodes. In this case, they dont have a clear path to their potential target, and their AI script reverts to its more rudimentary behaviour....wander about until it spots something and then make a half assed attempt to close on it, before finding that to be too difficult and wall humping

Heh, I have witnessed the wall humping when I forgot to put in pathing once. Pretty funny. Hmm, no way to make a special pathnode that tells them to ignore it till you come within a certain radius I guess?

For the ammo idea, why not, just , have it setup, so you press give ammo key, in this case, I like the letter "J"so let's say "J" is the key. Anyways, you walk up to them, and they are out of ammo, you need a fast way to give them ammo without menus or just dropping it.
So, why not have the J key, give one clip of your currently selected weapon? If you have a Handcannon, 4 mags, and a shotgun, with 16 shells, if you have the shotgun out, it'll give the player like 8 shells when you press "J", if you have the handcannon out, it'll give them 6-8 (whatever the number is for a full clip) and they may reload there after. If you want to give them two magazines, just tap "J" twice. Simple. Concept wise anyways.
