I want to kill myself! Although you seem better than some of them, you have STILL made the mistake of posting your 2nd post! Ban yee!
*Cough*
1) Depends on where you live. But yeh, we mostly just get together on MSN and discuss when we are going to play. 2) That question has been said, done, and dusted. Please look around the forums, and you may find out.

Tried a dzoen searchs, all came up empty. But jsut because you said that I went through the hard way post by post and eventually foudn the official thread for it.
The thread blames it on The PC, The Connection, Or the server.
Its not my PC, dont you dare say its my PC. Its not my connection, this is the only game that gives me trouble. The server, I highly doubt its the servers fault because it records peopel, it can ping the server, and if there really were no configured servers this game wouldnt have any fans at all.
I Blame, the mod, like other people did in the thread. I had this problem last time I installed this mod on 3 differant computers, and I'm having it now.O well, try try again I guess.

I wouldn't blame the mod. It's the servers, they are set up by noobs who don't bother to read the info, and set it up correctly. It can be your computer, you may not have the correct files(Maps, mods, etc) needed. It's not ALWAYS somebody else's fault.

It's not the mod's fault, it's not your computer's fault, it's not the server's fault.
It's your fault, for not trying to play at a time when other people play.
AKA, NO ONE IS PLAYING SO THERE WILL BE EMPTY SERVERS.

Oh stop being such asses guys.
There are servers that allow you to ping them, and that show people in them, but when you try to join them, it just sits at the menu. This is just some weird issue no one really knows how to fix (yet anyways), my server (Grim's Server) for example whenever I host it for just small games, apparently, NOW shows up in the browser when it didn't before, but if you try to join it, it just sits there, but if you take the IP, and connect through the console (Open xx.xx.xx.xx) it connects. It's a very weird issue, that's due to my router, I'm sure, but I'm not in the mood, and probably never will be, to dig in and fiddle with my router to fix it.
Tons of people play, but usually it's friends only type of games. Usually, a small group of people will host a private server for us to play on, it happens all over the place, some even do it in small LAN parties. So servers vary, also, if a server shows no one on a server, try joining anyways, because some times you'll find it does show a person or two once you join. I've joined an empty server once and it turned out there was five people in it already, and yes, my browser was just refreshed. But anyways, that's the sum of it all. If you have issues joining, there isn't a whole lot you can do after you installed and patched correctly. Also, maps change a lot, so if you can't join, and it's a custom map, it could be a different versoin (sadly)

The problem is not that it shows a black screen or that it holds on the main screen. The problem is that you get no error message. That is the mods fault. The reasons why you should recieve an error message are many. Server router issues, missing map, failed to download map, you joined as the server switched map, you are banned on the server, you just joined a full server, the server is hosting KF version 2.0, the server is hosting an old UT2004 patch or simply connection waiting etc. All you need to know is, if you get the black screen, that something is wrong. It is not a bug. It's an error message (the bug is that you can't see the message). Check installation, don't join a full server, don't join a server with ping 300+. These servers are usually fine: Kno's Server McClaw666 ZOMFG ZOMBIES111!!
