My server is up and running on its new platform and is ready for prime time! It has been tested and seems to be quite stable. I know you all missed me!
Server specs:
Dual 800 mhgz Pentium III CPUs
512MB PC133 SDRAM
SCSI Ultra160 HDDs
Ubuntu Linux v6.06.1
UT2004 Dedicated Server v3369 with ECE Bonus Pack
Killing Floor v2.1
Normal difficulty
300 pounds starting cash
Map voting enabled
I have all KF maps in known existence on the server and don't feel like listing them here! You can vote for the ones that you want to play! I will add updated and newly released maps as they become available!

Now if I could keep it from crashing it would be better, but that's Faust's department.
EDIT: I now have an auto-restart script in place, so even if it crashes it'll just come right back up!

Ok folks. I want to apologize for my retarded ISP.
I recently upgraded my line from 5 mbit to 7 mbit and told the technician to make sure he tested the stability. Well either he didn't test it or the problem didn't occur until later, but basically my signal was stalling out on the internets somewhere thus causing packet loss, high pings, etc. I couldn't even loopback to my own IP it got so bad.
Well I called them last night and they dropped it back to 5 mbit and it works fine now, so happy hunting!

As I have had only one client connect to my server in the last month I have decided that my hardware would be better spent running a server for "The Hidden: Source" mod.
Kno's server is almost always full and seems to be doing quite well for itself.
Good luck on the mod!

Sorry to see you go BigJohnMP, I played a few times on your server and had some good fun.
It seems that the forums are slowing down, not alot of activity as of late. I hope that the mod isnt coming to a stop, it would be a shane really.
At least the mod can still live on at LAN parties, definately game of the LAN.

Well, the thing about your server for me was the latency. I´m not saying you have a bad connection, it´s just that I´m on a different continent and well, takes a while for the data to get there and back. With a ping of 350+ KF is still playable but gets annoying after a while (Stalkers, being hit from far away, other lag-induced stuff). But with only one connection in a month you´re right to put it down. And thanks for hosting, I also played a couple of nice matches on there (more than a month ago).  |
