Hi guys
I would like to know if you guys are experiencing the same level of LAG and latency within KF online as myself and several other friends, this only happens online, locally & LAN work flawlessly
> Ping never less than 100ms > Other players ping to my server never less than 100ms
This is not a rant, you already know how much I love this mod, its just something that I would love to see resolved. Also it is not my connection, it happens to several other friends. Is it misconfigured server, or is KF quite demanding to play over the internet?
Cheers guys
P.S. I held a LAN party this Sunday, just as I predicted KF2.1 stole the show! We had 2 servers running, 5 players per server with 2 TS servers.....WOW just WOW!
**EDIT** Im based in the UK, forgot to mention that when another UK based player joined my server his ping was 60ms, ALOT less than other players.

It is a non-dedicated server.
You can't run a KF server on your own comp flawlessly, regardless if you choose [dedicated] or [listen].
The same with any server that needs to keep track of position, animation, health etc on 50+ pawns at any given moment. (Invasion, several other mods)

Glad it went over so well at the LAN Party! Going to try getting a group together sometime this week... have at least four who are interested in it... need to get my old friends to move out here.

you can go to your ini at kfmod20 system folder. And scroll down to [kfmod.kfgametype] and actually reduce the wavesize. Did you see the number 50? do some reduce in number accordingly or u could readjust the wavemask following the guide that faust provide.
It will help in latency but u wouldnt get 200 specimens. Gain and Loss

Cheers guys, yeah I know its not a bug per say, but every other online game (UT2004, quake 3 etc) seem to work fine with a decent ping of around 25 - 100. I think it all comes down to 2 things:
1.) Misconfigured servers - Lots of listen servers that are behind standard ADSL connections (256kb upload) running on standard non-dedicated hardware.
2.) Being based in the UK - I hosted a server the other night, my friend (UK based) connected fine and had a ping of 50ms
Thanks for your responses guys. uwasawaya the LAN was amazing, you definatley need to have a KF2.1 LAN with TeamSpeak...WOW, what an amazing experience.

Actually, I'm quite certain it's mainly what I just explained.
There's a BIG differance between hosting a UT2004 Invasion server and one that runs Deathmatch
