He locked his thread, but i still think we should atleast be able to post about this.
Its a sad thing Alex, is there really no way you can just download KF2.0 and work with it or something? Meh im just tryna sound smart, not working like usual.
Alex thanks for giving us KF in the first place, good luck with school and have fun in scotland, drink one for us mate ;D.

Indeed it is, it's cruel how so much work can be lost (not by it's creator you understand) at times, lost several things myself when i was working on maps etc, but nothing compared to this. Thanks for all the hard work adn the time spent thus far. Good luck with your future, many shall support the great mod that is KF for a long time to come, i will at least.

Either way, you still need to download KF2.1 and join us in a game or two!

I was going to post about how he could try putting his HDD in his freezer, but he locked the thread. Before you all say 'WTF!?' and 'LOL!' I would like to say that it has worked for me a couple of times before. I can get into detail about the mechanics of it later, but you simply pop the sucker into your freezer overnight, put it back into your tower in the morning, and start her up and sometimes it'll let you copy data for an hour or so until it warms up and the drive heads crash again. Anyways, 'tis a shame. I don't think I can count all the mods that I know of that have been crippled, or at least postponed, due to data loss. Hard drives always fail, they are like light bulbs. Its not a matter of if, but when. You always have to back up data that is stored on hard drives, floppies, or flash memory to optical media because eventually it will cease to exist.

Wow, ain't that a kick in the cherries. Backing up your work is a good thing to do because of this kind of situation. I sometimes back up my maps. If I just worked a year on a mod, I definantly would of. So does this mean faust is the only one working on KF stuff now or was he just helping out with that patch?

I was on topic... someone has to pick up the pieces.
And I've heard about the freezer thing from the CS department from IU... I hope Alex tried it at least. It's supposed to work pretty well.

Tch. It seems that fate just does like Killing Floor.
Hopefully, the pieces Alex left behind for the community and faust is enough to be able to continue on with the project, as he moves on past KF.
Everyone has to move on eventually, and every good thing comes to an end.
But with KF, it seems that fate continously has tried to stop it. Yet, it is now at 2.1, and possibly one of the best, if not the best mods for UT2004.
Now, we must see if KF will stand the test of time, with it's many supporters trying to0 back it.

It's true, after a few more releases, it might even get to the level Alien Swarm has... it's definately an amazing piece of work, and one I'm proud to say I've been a part of, no matter how small. We'll do what we can.

I was hoping to use all of this time I have to type up an elaborate and sympathetic post; because by all means, Alex and his creation deserve it. However, it seems that most things have been said and I am quite left speechless. For Alex and KF, I give you a tribute.
Regardless of the lack of our leader, it's good seeing the community teaming up together to keep this project alive. Whether they have skills or not, people are still eager to learn and give what the have. Let's all do our best.
As for me, all I have to offer is my position as a novice concept artist. If anyone decides to find any use for me, just give me a ring-a-ling-ling.
Edit: Oh, and everyone, let's try to use this thread for giving our condolences rather than using the "Future of KillingFloor" thread.
