I havent quite got the whole dedicated server deal up and working yet *sadness* but I am still all about some gaming. If anyone is up add me to your xfire (if you have it) name:alphawolf010.
While I have a thread: When I try and set up a ded.server it doesnt appear in my internet games list (running ded server on one core, with the game running on another). Am I doin something wrong, or is it because I'm on a college network, and that is causing issues?

Not sure actually, be truthful though, did you pirate the game? That actually has caused me some headaches before, mostly something with the Master Server I think.
And I'll add you

First things first, welcome Alpha.
Now as far as setting up a ded yourself. Have you check the lan game tab? When you set up a ded then connect to it from the same network(or in your case, same pc) it won't show up on your internet games tab. Through If you don't have access to the campus routers(there's most likely more then one router between you and the net), so you can forward the proper ports, then, I'm sorry to say, your SOL for hosting a server to the internet. But on the off chance you can get into the router configs hit me up on xfire "Kno One" and I'll be glad to help you get set up. Best times to catch me online are 9am to 12pm and 6pm to 2am est.
In the mean time, anytime you see it up, your more then welcome to hop on by my sever again.

Well that bites. I was gonna let the server run 24-7 so we all can game all the time. I know my system is strong enough to run a server (opteron 165, 2g ram, 160g hd space, 6800gt). I guess when I get out of grad school and get my own place, I'll set it up full time. It does show up on my lan game. If anyone is on I'll load it up again, and we can test it to see if it does show up.

I would have set up something for you, cept the wonders of the internet conspired to ruin my evening... by dying... I might be playing tonight, sometime between either 4:30-6:30 pm Hawaii time or 9:30-11pm... not sure. I'll be on Xfire, my user name is in my sig.

I'll be online after 8pm cst. I added you to my xfire, but I dunno if you have gotten the confirmation or what not. Nickname is alphawolf010. Reason I wont be on till later is because I gotta finish some complex variables homework, and polish my adv calc proofs before I turn in my stuff tomorrow.
If not, I can usually game late on mondays and wednesdays. Friday-Sunday are iffy, depends on what my gf/fiancee decide to do for the weekend.

Math... never my favorite... unless it's finite mathmatics... geometry and statistics I can deal with... imaginary numbers piss me off... mostly because i hate having a problem you can't solve and just making it easier to not solve.
English though... always loved languages.
And I'll check Xfire when I get home... I'm at work actually, so I can't do much from here.

I hated stats when I took it. Once you get out of the ideas that numbers are real (if you can find me a bucket of 2 I'll be impressed), the algebra makes more sense. All numbers are, in reality, are symbols someone decided to use hundreds of years ago to count sheep. They aren't concrete. And besides, I do more writing than computation anymore.

... you lost me so much there. I don't get along with maths, and the idea of 10 not being ten would break me.
