Killing floor review thread

Ok lads listen up smart! Ive been playing games from c64 to todays graphic monster games so ive been around for awhile atleast.

Anyways the story on how i found out about Killing floor is rather funny cause i found it through another mod(another zombie mod, but for the source engine) www.nomoreroominhell.com
Theyve been at it for 2 years and ive been lurking in their forums for months...but then one day i saw this other forum-crawler say something about a mod called "Killing floor" for ut2004. Well since i "just" got my hands on ut2004 i decided to check it out, so now on to the review shall we.

The name it self didnt really speak to me until i got it working. Yeah i know pretty lame to fail an installation when youve been using a computer for...well years.
NOTE: Install problem was my fault and not the mods.
Anyways being this gamer i jump directly to the settings to see if everything is correct, and after some tweaking i decide to go browse online games. There was like 6-8 servers, i didnt really count cause who does math when he/she has a new game eh? anyways i joined the first best server with some people and loading... OMG 800 ping and again its "my" fault, sharing network isnt always the best so i decided to make a server of my own (yes i read that solo play = death). So i was prepared for the worst, i myself like a real challenge be it a game or some IRL shit... Anyways i chose the manor map since it just felt right dammit! When the game finished loading, i SERISOULY dropped my jaw...almost wet my pants! omg what a surprise it was, the effects and ahhhhhhh *drool* well everything was right (for me anyways )

So i just ran around looking around cause the textures and the mapping OMG great great work...but then the zombies got me -.- i would make a lousy zombie action hero
I also checked the other maps to see how they looked and well lets just say....HELL YEAH! the lab map with the rusty machinery blew me away completly.
After my amazing experience i decided to let my older brother play and see if he liked it as much or even more who knows really.

After a couple of maps he just said " Lets make everyone of our friends get this so we can play"!
And shortly after that i did this review / first impression thread....

I wont put a number cause thats just something i dont do in my reviews, but i can tell you this, i thought everything : the graphics, the sound etc were brilliant.

Cant believe this is free, its just amazing... Best mod ever?

NOTE: I do misspell sometimes and there might even be some grammar errors in there in that wall of text but if i want to correct what i write, i would be in school!

Armakuni, welcome to the forums! Glad you've enjoyed the game so much. I love hearing about new people's experiences with the game.

And as amazed as you were.. imagine those of us who've been here awhile... take a look at 1.0 screen shots... then you'll understand why I was just as stunned as you

I just got this a few hours ago. I was an avid HL2 zombie mod player, but since HL2 has been having issues with my dual core, I thought I would give this a try. I must say I'm HIGHLY impressed. Like the original poster, I've been gaming since I was old enough to remember, and that was also on a c64 (I wish I still had that thing....awesome games). Everything about it is done right, the levels, the monsters, the hectic "omg behind you" feel that some levels have. All the months and years of work that you all have put in have not gone to waste, since you have one of the most stunning mods I have played on. Keep up the phenominal work, and thank you Alex for continuing on this twistedly beautiful project of yours!

Glad you guys are enjoying it, and welcome to the community. Unfortunatley I wasnt around for the release of KF1.0, I only heard about the mod around the end of 2005 in a gaming mag, I then heard 2.0 was coming out...WOW, amazing, I couldnt believe the changes they had made.

Im glad to see more and more people are experiencing this mod, its needs all the recognition and praise it can get, in some ways I wish it was part of the STEAM mod community, at least then hundreds of thousands of people would see it.

Until then I think it is up to us guys to spread the word, theres nothing better than good word of mouth.
