Everyone's done one so I will too.
After playing all maps(Default ones)I must say beautiful level design and theme(Although, like most maps, many area's can be exploited)
Gameplay:
Gameplay is just what you'd expect...cept for a twist I did not expect. I got into a game, saw a zombie, used my pistol and shot it dead center in the head. It did not go down, I was like "Uh...crap" Wammy, it munched me. So then on the next map, I found a corner and blasted away, and killed a few zombies(Tough ones, they seem to be...)It frustrated me abit, but when more kids joined, it reminded me "Oh wait! this is a Co-op game!" and we owned some zombo's and had a blast. I played for one hour my first time, and I've been playing for hours at a time now. I've pretty much got most levels, weapons, and situations down.
Generally the "Kill a certain amount of zombies and proceed to the next level" thing has been done, but this somehow, which eludes me at the moment, seems to make it fresh. Maybe it's the fact that the zombies look pretty scarey...creepy I guess, and add a fear factor when they are shoved in your face. I've rarely played a Multi-player game that had a scare factor in it(BrainBread, Zombie Panic, both MP ZZombie games, but nothing like this)
I love to just go in, and it can really feel epic at times. What would improove this is if some reload sounds had more of a kick feeling when reloading quickly, or more of an OMMPFFF when fired, you could say.
The Weapon aspect is gameplay is nice. It makes you feel as if your ammo is limited, but if you take the chance of dashing out of your safe lil' hole, you can grab a bunch and be set for the next nuclear war. Overall, I found the distribution of weapons to be balanced enough(Although the shop keeper really reminded me of Resident Evil 4...still great though)
8/10 on the gameplay(Not totaly new, but does keep it fresh)
Graphics:
UT2004, a game I just got last year for a mod called "Red Orchestra" Well, for it's requirements, the graphics were stunning, for UT2004 and the mod itself.
Now I try this mod, and really am amazed, it feel's so "Doom 3"ish, yet...what's this?! it's fun!
What you've got here is a major graphics overhaul, they are so much better than the default, and makes it so you can't max them out, without a serious error happening(I assume the engine can't take it, or coding errors, either way it's fine)
Models look fine, animations are decent, could use some work, but hey, I must remind myself, this is a demo / beta, and totally free!(Although the obligation to the fans, yet still)
Levels are designed with that "Day of the dead" look and feel to them. I must say, George would be proud. Also, the zombies remind me of "Silent Hill" abit.
9/10(For the engine being overloaded)
Replayablity:
Hey! what's this even for?! it's a multiplayer only game! Well, I'll just say it:
"This game is overly addicting, I've not stoped playing it cept to eat, sleep, and make this post"
10/10
Overall: 9/10
Great mod, will tell my friends, and if I can get fraps to ever work for me, a music video, and put it up on YouTube and get some advirtising for you guys.
I applaud the dev team for creating such a mod, that when I saw, I went and dug out my discs from storage, saw they where scratched, got a torrent, waited 9 hours, installed, and got this.
