Setting the Monster difficulty will no longer affect how much damage they do , as of patch 1.01 . IT does however affect how many enemies come at you per wave.
Therefore, for optimal gameplay experience you should leave the monster difficulty set to GODLIKE, and only move it down if you are playing just by yourself or dont want to be swamped with zombies.
Don't come complaining about how easy or boring the game is, if you have the monster difficulty set at Novice or something and you're finding that there are only 10 zombies per wave coming at you!!
