All of those sound excellent, and I'd just like to point out that Unreal has the largest-allowed map size of any system on the market right now (it's something like 16 times larger than quake 3 and 4 times larger than HL2), but with the number of textures required to keep things going, KF maps tend to run a bit small. Alex has this thing, though, where he'll just wake up in the morning and start making shit, so there's no telling what'll happen from this point. We'll see how things go.

Sounds great. Don't forget the little things like the break room and meeting room. And lots of stuff to knock over!

(btw, any way you guys could make one more map available for the demo? )

you know, 5 maps isnt all that many, and this mod already has a decent following, off a demo no less. Is there any chance you'd let people make maps with a more-final beta version, and include their maps with the release?

I can see why people would love to make maps and play KF in these maps,
But a lot of time and effort has been spent on creating these maps. One of our strongest points is that the maps are atmospheric etc. It would be lost, if someone were to make their own maps. Because they dont know Killing Floor through and through. Different styles, different amounts of effort put in to it. For a start, it doesnt mean as much to the 'audience' as the creators. And that is always an early indicator to the final quality. (no offense to anyone who is offended...)
Every map for killing floor is virtually custom made. Each bit modelled and textured for a unique look. And theres very few people with the skill and endurance.
Killing Floor's life lies heavily in the maps themselves. Each map, carefully tailored to fit the purpose and style. Where as mods and games like Desert Combat and Battlefield, the maps are literally just boards. All they have to have is, some ground, some trees and a few buildings and checkpoints...
5 maps with keep everyone going for a while in my opinions...
and Alex and Slinks are ALWAYS working on new material, so you won't have to wait long before the next update etc.

Probably very cliched, but how about a big warehouse/refugee camp style map? starting off in the entrance, everything is fine and you think your safe until, until the infected arrived and it turns into a slaughter as any civilians (if its possible?) who are attacked by them are turned. this would give you a choice as well, save the civies. if you do you could arm them, or kill them now to stop the eventual spread of the plague and ave time when they do eventually turn on you. could have some awesome battles lined up if you got that working

Well, you know what, I'll be happy with mappacks every 6 months or so

now i that i cant get this out of my head ....the winchester pub !
i think a pub map would be nice, drunken infected.
it starts off all qiet you go inside the pub ...a pint glass falls on the floor, then the bartender jumps up from the ground and tryes to eat you, you head to the roof to see masses of them swarming around the pub.
and maybe you could get a snooker cue and beat the living day lights out of every thing, and play a game or two.
karma objects like snooker balls, cups etc. would be nice.

"Snooker" thats probly a word us americans turned into "pool" (but thats a diffrent story). Back 2 the map thing 5 maps is plenty. When u think about the detail of the map in the demo its sort of scary. Maps arent esay 2 make either it takes alot of time and effort 2 make good maps. And the thing about user created maps is i would think that after working really hard on sumthin like Killing Floor. It probly hurts when some1 makes a half-ass map that doesent go 4 anything Killing Floor stands 4 but slaps that name on it. Thats just how i would feel in there shoes... ;D ;D ;D

Yeah the 5 maps arent only beautifully detailed in a horrific sense :-), they are extremely varied in the feel and gameplay. From tight maps like biolabs to more open maps, each one will have a distinctive feel and gameplay style which will reflect the attention to detail to it.
