Sounds like you downloaded the old demo release from somewhere.

Just played through the single player, entirely without cheats. It's incredibly fun. Trying to run to the map exit while being chased by bloodthirsty horde is really tense, and it takes a bit of strategy. I think I'll be playing through the single player game on a regular basis, believe it or not. I love the atmosphere. If you add more maps in future versions of KF, I wouldn't mind a few more SP versions, as well. Even if they're stand-alone maps, the heavy fog and emphasis on isolation are really awesome.

I am definitely considering expanding upon the SP story or making more maps in that vein, in the future

alot of the karma objects in the enviroment are hard to move because you can walk over them, and when you do walk over them expect to go spinnning arround. This needs some improvement

I just wanted to add the death penalty is a little high. I usually get killed as I'm still connecting which means I start out w/ -10 as soon as I join. Maybe percentage based instead of point based so it wont cripple players. Not much you can do in neg except rely on teammates to kill everything.

Maybe percentage based instead of point based so it wont cripple players. Not much you can do in neg except rely on teammates to kill everything. Especially if you haven't learned that wonderful skill called Ammo Control and Conservation;D I've been trialling UT04RPG with Killing Floor and it works nicely. Each zombie kill gets you XP as it should, and you lose XP when you die. You can have "constant" XP (so your XP is saved) or it can be one off so every time you play your XP is reset. Great stuff. Better if you turn off "magic" weapons and artifacts. The only thing that DOESN'T work with it is the Health Bonus... for some reason that refused to work full stop. I had some points in Health Bonus but my HP was max 100 (it did go up to 101 at one point...) Damage Reduction and Damage Bonus are unconfirmed as yet. Speed and weapon fire rate almost certainly work as some of the bots were a LOT faster than normal.

In Killing Floor. movement speed is directly proportional to health . So hypothetically, if you had 10000 Hitpoints, you'd be running at the speed of a flying bullet.

This mod is quite gorgeous, in its own method of horror. The gritty, run-down atmosphere and the fact the undead seem to come shambling out of nowhere, charging like fucking madmen only add to the appeal. The fact that everything's pushable is great, too.
And the "no-frills" singleplayer is great. Too many games hold the players hands, which grows agitating. I actually like having to figure crap out on my own, and apreciate the lack of mini-maps, bright beacons, or huge arrows directing me on-screen. And the lack of ammo and health only lends to the survival-horror feel... since you won't have the ammo to shoot every zombie. (This has resulted in me growing very, very fond of my fire-axe. In fact, I even named it 'Otis'.)
The only gripe I have with the game is the lack of crosshairs, and lack of iron-sight aiming. I'd understand if my character was some civilian, with no real firearms training. But an urban commando should at least know how to shoulder his weapon.
All in all, this is a great mod, and I've been dying for this dark and gritty of a zombie horror mod for a while now.

I remember the early days of Counter Strike where the crosshair was impossible to see and there was no way to change it. What I did was take a tiny square of clear tape, put it on the monitor, and with a sharpie marker draw or mark a little circle or something to indicate the true crosshair. I guess you can call it a cheat on some of those maps where they deliberately screw you up.
In Killing Floor it's easier to change a certain value in the ini file.

I realy like the singleplayer, its kind of hard, but thats what i like on games. The map design is awesome, i played all the hl1 zombie mods and this is the first one what makes me scared, and what has a real horror atmosphere. Multiplayer game is total fun. The only problem i habe there is no german dedicated server, and all servers have a 200 ping for me. Im thinking about to get a 4slot server. You need to make some more promotion to get more players to this great mod :-)
