Are you importing at
256x256 in TGA 24bit? Download PhotoShop Trial ... and free transform it in there! then import your textures!

unfortunatly ... no! Your graphics card (and anyone elses for that matter) could not possiblity render a texture higher than 256x256 ... otherwise it would eat ALL of your graphics memory! As for the unreal engine ... it only accepts 256x256 in TGA. I have not used Gimp before. I would recommend photoshop ... because then you can add filters and effects to the textures like grain ... and blur etc!

AFAIK Textures can also be 512X512 0r even 1024x1024 As long as you know basic maths both sides have to be in powers of 2 as Alex said 2x2 8x16 512x128 512x1024 Anything along those lines should work. It has to be 256 colors too. Also if you can. For only 4 textures please import them to "MyLevel" rather than making a separate texture pack

I´m giving you this quote: [...]AFAIK Textures can also be 512X512 0r even 1024x1024.[...] Now think about what she said. And a tip: She´s right.
