Well the thrust of the map i had in mind is that it is mostly woods(that you could walk through of course) with a few beaten paths winding around and linking the landmarks together. What I listed were just a couple of ideas of what those those landmarks could be. Now the main building doesn't even have to be a cabin. it could just as well as be a barn, or an old busted up windmill (ala Army of Darkness).

a ww2 bunker set in the woods would seriously rock. all of the bunkers ive visted have had pretty small corridors so would make it interesting:). you could make a map in tunnels which could kinda tie in with bunker theme. near where i live there are tunnels which span the whole region with a old fort which connects them all that would be pretty cool but in smaller span. unfortunely these tunnels near me have been shut since ww2.

Wasteyard is at last finished. A big all-in-one rar file is availiable now (or at least when nthe uploading is finished). Have fun, and revel in the fact that there will be no more versions.

Woot! What did you change on it since the last release?

Well, that depends. If you mean since the version you tested, then not a lot. Just added some more graffitti, fixed some wonky stuff and added music . If you mean since version 2.01, then a whole load. Mainly visual, but now there are no exploits and the specimens come at you from all angles and the weapon pickups are more balanced. Screens will come with the link, and I'll update my sig. Only 14:16 left. minutes, that is.

Name:- KF-Wasteyard Version:- V2.02 FINAL Link:- www.savefile.com/files/16497 (savefile, 9.9MB, includes all files) Players: 1-6 Description:- An abandoned waste disposal facility. Just try and survive! Screenshots:- Bugs:- None known. (YES!!!) Extra info:- Set in an abandoned waste disposal facility, so the theme is basicaly junk. I've tried to make the map easier to learn by making each area disinctive, and there are DRF tags next to all the weapon pickups. The trader's shop is also signposted. Performance is good on my PC,FPS being rounghly equal to and occasionaly higher than the official maps, so it should run fine. With the map I have tried to make it so that there is a good balance between open and closed areas, and you are never too far from where you want to go. I aslo tried to make the specimens attack from interesting directions, and for there to as few 'safe spots' as possible. This doen't mean defence is impossible, you just have to work hard. Have fun. NOTE:- Only one download is necessary, all the files are in one place. If you get stuck, USE THE README.

I've always loved how they can come in through the windows... scared the hell out of me the first time it happened. And of course the graffiti... how can I not love the map?

A graveyard is still up for grabs. Maybe you can do half that forest idea, half graveyard. Dont really understand why people havent made a graveyard map yet.

Really nice work on the new visuals Doyora. You gave Wasteyard a very dark and creepy feel. It would make a great home for any slasher flick fiend out there.
ZB bringing up the graveyard map gave me a sick idea on how to make the specimens come up from under the ground at each grave. So I have a quick question for all of you mappers. Is it possible to make a blocking volume\wall that you could pass through on one side but not the other?

Is it possible to make a blocking volume\wall that you could pass through on one side but not the other? Look at any of the spawns for the specimens. And that's kinda stupid to have them come out of graves, no offence or anything but it would NOT make sense at all. Unless like, the graveyard was above a horzine lab or something and they put them there. But even then, dumb, really.

I'd like to keep the ball rolling, so here's the first beta version of my new map, KF-ThamesBridge:- www.savefile.com/files/19624It's a bit different to your usual KF map. Here's some screens:- Try it out, and tell me what you think. NOTE:- This is a Beta, so, it has no ambient sounds, is visualy unfinished, the pathing was a quick job and isn't perfect, but it is functional. _______________________ I did intend to do a graveyard-themed map, but I decided against it because I was already working on wasteyard, and two -yard maps might be confusing. Kno:- Your idea for a windmill map is nice. I would like to develop this alter, when I have more time. Thanks. ;D

Alright, I just gave this a couple quick play throughs. And I have to say this map truely ROCKS. The ranged weapons are a sniper's dream here, there's so many things to shoot from afar, yet so many things to kill close up. I LOVE it! I have encountered NO bugs, aside from there being litterally a million zombie spawns and so many blocking volumes it's kinda shitty for when you're running for what looks like a safe zone and all of a sudden you're blocked and you die. Other than that, kickass stuff.

Yeah, I really am against those blocking volumes. In one way it makes it more realistic cuz its more open and not enclosed, and at the same time makes it unrealistic cuz its an invisible wall that you run into. The worst thing ever is when you first try a map, run for a hallway to get away from zombies, just to find that you cant go there and you die. I'd only add them if they player knows he can't go there, like Do Not Enter signs or something.
