Ok maybe I'm a noob or something but for the life of me I can't join a game with my brother.
We both have legit copies of UT2004, both KF installations were done correctly.
We both can join internet games, but when either one of us makes a game, it shows up in the list as "internet" and not "lan" even though I checked off the box.
Our games have a "?" where the ping should be and when we try and join the game won't load. WTF is going on???
Windows firewall allows UT2004 through, so that can't be it

You're trying to play KF on LAN? Well, first things first... Make sure you are both connected on a LAN Make sure the setting in the ini is set to LAN only, so it won't appear on the server browser, and if you like, don't advertise it on the server browser... Personally, I always hold my LAN Parties on a seperate machine, so you might want to consider doing that. You can host and play on the same key. The easiest way I find is to join via IP Address, I find that ut2004 often gets the ip address wrong for LAN, use Terminal Command Prompt to ping his machine, if you get a response, it works. Use that IP address you used to ping his machine, in-game. If you don't know his ip address, use command prompt and type in "ipconfig", it will show up there. I can't remmember the specific field it is, as Vista has changed it since XP...but it should be obvious. Hope that helps.

Open your KFMod20.ini (in your KF\System folder)
Scroll down to [IpDrv.MasterServerUplink]
Set this for a lan...
DoUplink=false UplinkToGamespy=false SendStats=false ServerBehindNAT=true (if your connected to a router) DoLANBroadcast=true bIgnoreUTANBans=False
Also ... under all that ... make sure your LANport is set to 11777 And try a manual connect in KF.

Windows firewall allows UT2004 through, so that can't be it Now I remmember... Never used Windows Firewall much, but I stupidly downloaded a software firewall for Linux, and I just remmember now that ut2004 and ut2004server are two different programs/scripts. If Windows unblocks ut2004, it might not unblock the server, maybe it will...I don't know... Also...are you behind a hardware firewall(Router)? I doubt that will do anything, but I know mine can be strict enough to forbid the LAN computers sending data to each other.
