Using custom skins on KF

I have found a custom skin that I really want to use but can't get it to appear on in choices of players in the settings.

Can anyone enlighten me on how I go about doing this?

you cant, its hard coded now so that you cant use anything custom ingame

it was already coded so you couldn't access it in the menu anyway

If you use a custom skin you'll get kicked with the message "You have to use a killing floor character to play"

Strangest thing is it even kicks you if you host. on a listen server
