I had KF 1.0 and it would not run. I changed to 2.0 and then updated to 2.1 but the MS-DOs Batch 'RunKF' will not actually DO anything! Can someone please help me get KF to work?

I followed that. My version of Ut2k4 is the DVD version with the newest version and the editors choice and bonus pack. I followed the steps listed and it will not run.

Did you?
If it "doesn't run" still, be a doll and maybe include some useful info on what it does do.

It is not in my 'Community place and I made a shortcut going to "C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 2004\System\UT2004.exe" -mod=KFMod20 and when I double-click it, nothing at all happens. My mouse does the hourglass thing for all of 3 seconds and that is it. Since the mod was put in C:\UT2004 and that is NOT where the game is, should I put the mod in 'C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 2004'?
Edit: I got it to work by moving the folder. My only question now is thus; WHen I selevt my model, I see a top-down view. Is that normal?

Okay. I have installed UT2004... I installed the big ass 200MB 3369 mega patch, that includes the ECE... I unzipped the Killing Floor.zip to my UT2004 directory - so it has it's own folder KFMod20 in UT2004... I've unzipped the KFPatch20_to_21.zip into the KFMod20 folder, overwriting all the files that the patch included...
I clicked on the RunKF.bat file... A dos shell apears for a second then disappears. Then nothing.
I copied the shortcut that I use to start UT2004 normally, I go to its properties and change its target to C:\UT2004\System\UT2004.exe -mod="KFMod20"... Same as above.
I change the batch file and the shortcut to -mod=KFMod20 (without quotes) and try again... Same as above.
I download the separate 3369 patch and install that, just to be sure. I then try all the above combinations again... Same thing, no game.
I start up UT2004 normally and check the User Mods tab in the Community window... There are none.
What am I doing wrong?

What you did: UT2k4 -->3369 patch+ECE --> KF --> patched KF --> 3369 patch 3369 patch+ECE = megapatch What you should do: UT2k4 -->3369 patch --> ECE -->3369 patch --> KF --> patch KF It should work this way, too: UT2k4 -->3369 patch+ECE -->3369 patch --> KF --> patch KF The ECE package overwrites a few files that are needed by the game, afaik. So you have to patch again to get it up and running. Thing is, usually you get an error that lets the forum veterans jump at your throat, pointing at the right install order. But you got none. But you should try it out in the above mentioned order anyway, just to be sure. What I´d like to know is: What OS are you using?

Thanks for the response Blue.
I had already done the 3369 patch again (the single patch, not the mega patch) after the mega patch. Still nothing.
Do I need to delete the KFMod20 folder and unzip the KF zip and 2.1 patch once again?
I don't see how that would help, as I'm just unzipping files, not installing anything. I'll try it, but I don't understand why unzipping the files to the folder again will do anything that just having the files in that location already won't do.
Maybe the ECE is different in the mega patch to what it should be normally. Perhaps I need to DL the ECE separate file, then install that and then do the 3369 patch AGAIN - see if that works.
I'm running Windows XP.

Reinstall KF again. Even if you dont all the latest necessary 2k4 requirements it should still be visable in the mods section of the game. The least that should be happening is an error message.

Well, I hoped you were using Linux or something so I could just lean back and say that I´ve got no idea I think I had similar problems with the mega pack, though. Downloading and installing everything seperately might help. You should reinstall UT2k4, too, just to be sure. If that still doesn´t help then I´m running out of ideas, I´m afraid. You don´t strike me as the type who would install KF into the wrong directory, especially since you read the HowTo.

Okay. Downloaded and installed the ECE on its own. I then re updated with 3369 patch. I then re unzipped the KFMod20 folder and contents to UT2004. And yes, that's my working UT2K4 folder. I then re unzipped the 2.0 to 2.1 KF patch over the KFMod20 folder. And... Nothing. No appearance in the User Mods tab. When I double click the .bat files, a dos prompt flashes up for less than a second and vanishes. That's it. I'm going to have to give up on this mod. I really wanted to play it. But I've done everything to spec and nothing is getting the game running. There is no error message. It's like the mod doesn't even exist to UT2004. Here's the folder in explorer... The extra shortcut to UT2004 in the folder is the one I copied from my desktop and appended the mod name to it's target. I'll check this forum again in a bit. But I think this is a lost cause. Computers, huh? Who needs 'em!

Tried deinstalling and reinstalling UT2k4 (and then doing everything again, because it´s so much fun) ?

I just downloaded WinZip11.1 as it said in the KF Installation guide not to use the Windows XP zip extraction.
Still nothing.
No, I didn't de/reinstall UT2004 and start from scratch again. And I'm not going to.
I'm sure you guys put a hell of a lot into this mod, I KNOW you did. The hours and days and weeks and so on... The effort to make it all work and to create something that you can be proud of. And it looks like you succeeded for just about everybody.
But I've put too much time into this now and I can't justify going through the six CD swapping installation again. I know, it pales in comparrison to the amount of time and effort you've all put into it. But I'll have to be one of the people who don't get to play your game. I'm sorry.
But hey. I'm running windows, so when my computer gets effed up again and I have to do yet ANOTHER reinstall of everything, I'll give KF another go then. It might be up to a different version - or your team might have a new game for me to try.
One thing's for sure. Even though I never got to play your game, I can tell from what I've seen and read here, it is a winner. You're the guys to watch. And I'll be watching... From time to time.

Both a very polite and dramatic way to retreat ;D Well, I can only imagine how much fun it is to go through a 6 CD installation of UT... again, since I got lucky and found a DVD version of it. Just put it in, start it up and do something else for a while. I still find it strange that the mod doesn´t even show up in your community list, since, as stated somewhere above, usually we get people complaining about a certain error when they try to start KF. Since they somehow started it they seemed to have somehow managed to make it show up in their modlist - or their .bat files worked. Either way, it at least TRIES to fire itself up. I´m pretty sure I had your problem myself at some point, but I just can´t remember what I did back then. Whether I upgraded graphics cards drivers, reinstalled it, scanned for viruses, tempered with the installation order of the patches ... well, I probably did all of that, but I don´t want to put you through multiple reinstallations of KF via CD ... and you probably don´t want to do that either. Anyway, if I happen to sumble across a possible solution, I´ll post it here. Since, as we all know, Windows tends to turn your back on you when you least expect it, you´ll probably face a Windows reinstall sooner than expected and yeah ... Maybe you´ll think of KF again ´Till then.
