My friend had bought the UT2004 Editor's Choice game a few years back. He had never really played and he is really enthusiastic about playing Killing Floor. I told him where to get the files, in what order to patch, and sent him a link to the wiki install. I even walked him through it.
He installed the game via 6 CDs. Applied the 3369 patch, applied the ECE bonus pack patch, applied the 3369 patch again. Extracted the KFMod20 folder from the RAR. Placed KFMod20 folder into UT2004 folder. Applied KF 2.1 patch. Extracted map pack. Placed map pack inside the KFMod20 folder (where it's supposed to go). He then double clicks the RunKF.bat. He sees a Command Prompt window appear for less than a second and then it disappears.
He's tried reinstalling the game, trying a new KFMod20 folder, he even tried my folder (which had everything working properly, for me at least), and the same window appearing/disappearing happened. Any help would be appreciated.

Has he played ut2004 at least once before trying KF out?
Not that it really matters. But there is a lot of superstition when it comes to Windows refusing to open up games. Like for every game I do, Windows likes to think the desktop is always on top. And I have to do a combo of spacebar + left click + esc to get Windows to realise that I want the game to be the main window.

Try this, just to locate the problem; Click Start (asuming you're a WinXP user) and then Run. Then enter this string: cmd /k c:\the\path\of\your\kf20\folder\runkf

Well.. can you run ut2k4? try that maybe kF is missing the ini info that is generated when you first run ut2k4. If you can and it still annoys you then create a ut2k4 shortcut and change the properties
change Target : C:\UT2004\System\UT2004.exe to : C:\UT2004\System\UT2004.exe -mod="KFMod20"
it may be different for you so make sure its the right path.
hope that halps

Doesn't RunKF.bat issue from drive F or something non standard? Create a shortcut for 2k4 and append -mod=KFMod20 to the target. That or load KF from the Community/Mods menu.
