As I did my morning routine I wondered if I was (maybe) a bit off normal in what I´m doing and so I thought I´d make a thread out of this, to see if I´m right or wrong.
You see, the first thing I do pretty much every morning except when I´m really, really, really late is - I´m reaching for the extension lead my computer is on, turn it on, turn my computer on and remain motionless until it booted. If it does not get a blue screen like it often does the first time I cold-boot it then and only then I will get up and move to the blue seat that is conveniently stored in front of my computer to hack in my password. A few seconds of motionlessness until my computer finally is ready for use.
The thing I´m looking for is winamp, with a playlist containing all mp3s I´ve got already waiting for me. I will continue to click on "next" until I´ve found a song that fits my current, most likely grumpy, mood and listen to it for a few seconds until making my way to the kitchen. The songs almost always contain guitars and random screaming/shouting for/against some random thing. Usually metal/hard rock/punk.
Depending on the level of my tiredness (hours of sleep - hours of real sleep [as in: time I really slept without cat, brothers, neighbours, phone callers, picksomething, woke me up]) I will either choose some sort of juice (feeling good this morning), tea (a typical day) or coffee (get out of my sight!) to drink.
This is followed by your typical manly shaving/washing exercise with sometimes added shower and/or hairwashing. I´m usually doing the latter in the evenings, but sometimes I just can´t be arsed only to realise in the mornings that I really should at least wash my hair or I look like... a bum.
Anyway, somehow I´m always late. There must be a hidden time vortex somewhere in this house, that sucks out whatever time I´ve got left so that I´m always at least five minutes too late.
I mean, I know why I´m late today. It´s because I´m writing this post here and I just can´t be arsed to arrive timely at... where I´m not trying to arrive timely at. Been working for 8 months straight, there really should be an end to all this crap, but no, there is stuff you´ve got to do in your free time as well. Should bomb them all. (<-- quote of my sleep-, music- and tea-induced every-day morning thoughts).
Anyway, share your morning routine!

haha, I know exactly what you mean.
I've been working in the same place for the last 6 years, 6YEARS has passed me by in what seems like 2 years, I was 18 when I started, Im now 24!
Mornings are dreadful, the most depressing time of the day. Before I moved in with my GF I would always be late, I would get up 10mins before I left, I showered the night before, so all I had to do was have breakfast (usually eating it as fast as you can, not good!), brush teeth and wash face!
Now though I tend to get up at least 45mins before I leave and I'll be honest with you, its great. I now have the time to get ready, watch a little bit of the news and properly wake up! I used to come to work and feel like I was dying, plus the fact I used to stay up till at least 2am every night, then get up at 7ish, was a bad thing really.
If you hate your job so badly try and find another. Im the sort of person that will stick it out, I've had my ups and downs at work, in the end its worked out for the better. My GF gets bored easily though, been in her job for 8months and ready to leave!
The joys of life eh! I now have a mortgage/bills, the thought of my being sacked/redundant makes me sick, if that happened to me I think I would have a nervous breakdown. We as humans have alot of pressure these days.

I get up ten minutes before I have to leave. Sling on my clothes and brush my teeth.
I then get on my bike and cycle two miles to the train station. Let me tell you its a strange sensation being half asleep and having adrenaline pumping through you.
Usually hoping that the train is delayed I get the last train into work and carry the bike (it's a fold up bike) to work and there I have breakfast and check emails and stuff.

Well I get up at 6:30-6:40 then go down stairs take my clothes from the dryer and hop into the shower. Ive taken a long shower today from 6:42 to 7:16 mmmm nice and warm to battle the cold outside. Anyway I usually dont eat breakfast. But today I think I'm gonna just pop some Frosted Flakes into a cup and add milk. Grab my gym clothes, binder, and big hoody and head out the door around 7:30 get a ride to school then have to brace myself for Gym class Pd.A. Thats just about it.

I have to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I go to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when I get home, our Dad will kill us, and dance about on our graves singing "Hallelujah."
But you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe ya'

How do i get up in the morning? I dont ;D Been on a weird sleep schedule lately. It gets dark really early here in Scotland around this time of year , so sometimes, when i've had a late night (4AMish) i'll sleep clear through the daylight hours of the following morning and wake up some time in the afternoon because there's no sunlight. Other than that, i've more or less given up going to school, unless i really have to. Its a long walk downthe hill and back up just to sit in on an hour of "independent work". I've taken to doing everything from home. God only knows why though, i live in a relatively shit part of town, in a trash-ridden flat with flatmates ho both work, and who I rarely see....I think the only thing that keeps me going is modding But ah...ranting aside. If I have a *productive* day. (like one where I go out into town to be social, or maybe do a clean, or a shop or something) then I know i've gotta start my day with a coffee, or a relentless. Relentless is basically liquified amphetamine. Coca Cola makes and its got all sorts of good stuff like taurine, guarana, caffeine, and heaps and heaps of sugar. One of those babies, and i shakily make my way down the hill to get things done .

@ Antigod: I´ve never really thought about this, but yeah, I hated that job. "Hated" because I´m finished there. I´m taking a whole month of paid vacation right now and after that I´m gone and yes, they know about it. After that ... we´ll see, but right now I´m unemployed, happy happy unemployed ;D. (Well, until I run out of money). I guess it really makes a big difference when you´ve found the right job and maybe even the right people to work with. The latter is especially important in my eyes. [AM] madmax: I know that adrenaline feeling. Considering I need hours to fully wake up and I have been using (April until October) a motorbike to ride to work ... Well, I woke up on the bike. Now it´s winter and I can´t use it anymore. Thus I am returning to zombie status in the mornings. @echo: Mh, sounds like you´ve got your mornings thoroughly planned. I´m not jealous. @alex: It´s getting dark here at about 4:30pm-5pm and that already feels like a short day. It must suck pretty bad going to bed when it´s dark only to get up when it´s dark (again). ;D Try to see the sunny ( ) side of it: There are poeple who still would like to switch places with you. Like me. If things had worked out the way I wanted them to I´d be studying at the university of my choice for right about two months now. Let´s just say that I shouldn´t even have applied for it (because I actually couldn´t), which didn´t stop me from doing it anyway, but they rejected me regardless of the above (grades not good enough/too many people applying for the same thing). Was like an additional punch in the face. "Relentless", hm? I might try that. I will probably end up trying to crawl up a tree legs-first while proclaiming to be the Lizard King, but the recipe sounds fun.

Screw waking up!If I'm required to do it, I usually hit snooze once or twice(record is seven!), then take a shower for a ridiculously long amount of time. Then its off to class, eating whatever random piece of fruit/yogurt I have at the moment.

I live in West Yoskhire in the UK, it's not as bad as Scotland but not far off either. Sunset is around 3.45pm now, sunrise is around 8.15am, its a dreadful feeling going to bed at night and waking up what feels like night still! The other day I woke up, I thought it was morning and was cursing to myself, my GF looked at her alarm clock (old analogue so cant see in dark) and it was 3am, we went back to sleep for another 4 1/2 hours, yay. Love those feelings, waking up then realising you still got hours left to sleep.

Love those feelings, waking up then realising you still got hours left to sleep. That has to be one of the worst feelings I've ever experienced. Right after having the handlebars on my bike slam me in the stomach when landing a bump wrong. I swore I had internal bleeding or something because I was in such pain. On the weekends I usually sleep till 10 to 11. Sometimes ill just disregard the time and go downstairs and cram my mouth full of cinnamon toast crunch, while watching the history channel. Then get a shower, get on the Pc see if any of my friends wanna do anything, if not ill just totally blow my day off and do nothing.
