I played UT3 for a few hours for a few days ago. Actually I got really disapointed about it. As far as I found there was 1 new weapon. A few new vehicles. And actually the game is just improved graphically, also the Onslaught is a bit configured and now named Warfare. I could say I think UT3 SUCKS compared to 2004. UT3 just don't have the gameplay feeling like it is in 2004. So sorry Atari, but you failed this time. Waste of money.

Hmm well lets see. UT2k4 doesn't crash when I start a campaign onthe first video and saves my settings. So I am going with UT2k4.
Surprisingly
Oh and what the fuck happened to Assault and Survival!!!

Having spent two days playing the UT3 "campaign" mode, i can say that UT3 is an excellent game.
The story for the campaign may be so bad it makes me wonder why they even bothered hiring voice actors, but the missions themselves are instant-action style fun. And the gameplay is all there.
My biggest annoyance so far is that the menu system is godawful, and there are practically NO customizable options to be found. The only thing that is better than 2k4, menu wise is that you can now customize the upper body , face, etc of your player model. that's cool. Em....yeah.
the new UnrealED is hot, obviously...and I think UT3 is a solid all around game. I never spent much time playing UT2004, but I have to say i like UT3 about as much. same rapid fire gameplay and heart pounding action. Just not really my thing.
BTW. i voted "I'm dumb" cuz it was too difficult to resist.

Just to add to this I just spent two hours rectifying four separate bugs. Only for it to crash on me on the second warfare game.
Speaking in terms of a software tester I would be embarrassed if this was released.
Though when it did play for that fleeting half hour I enjoyed it.

One thing I *have* noticed about UT3 is the shameful state of the AI.
Enemies are good enough at putting a bullet between your eyes with inhuman accuracy from accross the map, and through cover, but when it comes to navigating up a slope with a tank, or stopping a flag carrier, they enter full-fledged wall-hump RETARD mode.

Well the more I hear about it the less excited I am about Ut3, initially the hype was so large it could have popped out the best game evar made by anyone ever in the history of the universe and therefore rend anything played by anyone else obsolete and have to be destroyed by Mr.T (Shut that Nintendo Jibba-Jabba up fool!) so i guess I would have to say 2K4 had more polish to it and far less buggy shite.

Is it just me, or does the game seem...unfinished? I mean, I can see them taking out invasion mode, as vanilla invasion just plain sucked, but assault? That was always my favourite, and I seem to recall a good number of online servers catering to assault, so it had to be at least fairly popular.

Yeah, you really have to wonder about that. in fact, i read somewhere that "Warfare" would be this godlike gametype that mixed the best of assault and onslaught. And epic used that as an excuse to nix assault ,presumably Warfare is JUST_ONSLAUGHT. thats all it is. onslaught with a new name. You run about capturing nodes, and blowing up your enemy's nodes until you can attack his power core. sound familiar? I do think you'e on to something macon. I also get the impression that UT3's development was very_adversely affected by the focus on Gears of War. It seems like the company just gasped its way across the finish line, and where when you open UT2004 you are just blasted across the face by all the features, and gametypes and options, when you open UT3, it looks like a menu button thief had been there before you and just run by grabbing everything he could see, and that the only reason there's anything left on that plain white and red background at all is because his arms were full. But as much as I can bitch about the game, when i'm actually PLAYING it, i'm having a blast. it's awesome fun, and it looks sexual. Add a great editing suite to that, and you've got a great, great bit of work. It just seems really ...... emaciated compared to UT2004. Almost like UT2004 "the kate moss" edition. Sexy, but wayyyyy too skeletal.

I never liked UT2k4, I was disappointed when I bought it. I find myself wanting to play UT3 afew times, so I'd say its better. Only thing stopping me is no matter what, it just seems to run slow and UT is one of those games where you have to be quick. I got a 7800GT, and with res at 800x600, lowest settings possible, it stays around 40-50 FPS, 30 when it gets crazy. Hopefully it is something that can be fixed in a patch or driver update. I use to play UT99 nonstop and its the only game in the series where I can acually kill someone online, but I can't vote for it.

In countless interviews, the producers always say something along the lines of "we made it easier and more accessible", which could translate as "we think you are retards" or "we couldn't be bothered to fill it with features" or "this game is just fun for a quick blast, if you want a deep long and complicated game, go make a mod".
I guess they have a point there, mods are the things that really keep the UT franchise running, I think it was more of a focus in this game than others, Am i right saying that they made giant changes to the engine in UT3 ed?
