I doubt you have the skills to code an engine into these open source whatsits. I expect very few people do. Even a simple level editor Im sure would be horrificly complex. I don't see the point myself.

Most open source gaming engines, have a community base who offer free level editors for you. Along with various addons.

You can achieve what you can code. If you can code in ragdoll bodies that don't fly through cars, and players dont "clip" into them. Then you are able. You will be hard pushed to do that in ut99, or ut2004.

I expect that karma collision on ragdolls against vehicles is disabled, to improve performance. If you wanted, it would be easy to change that, I'm sure.

I expect that karma collision on ragdolls against vehicles is disabled, to improve performance. If you wanted, it would be easy to change that, I'm sure. It's not that it improves performance. It does, dramatically. It all depends on optimization. With open source, you can change it, to get it just right. With Unreal Engine, you have to cover it up with glue. It's true that most of what you could achieve in open source engines, can be achieved with tricks in UEd. But I suppose, you can't really compare them. They are both aiming in opposite directions.
