Hi All I thought I would post some info on a new Valve Survival Horror game. It sounds alot like KF in that you are in a city and have to work together in defeating the infected (I know KF has specimens!). However big difference is that the game is mission/objective based, sounds very good, and will run on the source engine. Here's a link, theres also a trailer in there, you can get the trailer via Steam as well: server1.megagames.com/news/html/movies/left4deadtrailer.shtml

in other things Steam, someone should really re-make Killing floor for the Source Engine.
Source Engine>Unreal Engine

I think people would agree UT2k7 engine would be better than the source.

I personally like the Irrlicht and OGRE 3D Game Engine's, more than that of Source and Unreal Engine. Both are open source

Hammer isint that bad. Just because you need steam to use it, and it doesn't come with HL2, and the editor is lacking in useful and easy-to-get-to buttons... I don't know why I posted that stuff

Cause you're a nerd ;D. Also, why bother with something open source? Whilst you can implement new stuff, you gotta know HOW to do it. And who really does? Plus, the editing support will almost for sure be sub-par at best. I'm talking making maps from .X files. LAME.
But really, Unreal is and will remain to be the best place to mod. Also, I thought L4D was ripping off KF to the max when I saw the preveiw in PCGamer.....

There are plenty of tuts out there. .X files? Both Irrlicht and Ogre3D can use .bsp files as maps. Also, you can design engines with open source. Irrlicht is a gaming engine, Ogre3D is a graphics only engine, so you can combie multiple engines together to make one game. So for instance, I could make my own editor. And code in functunality for .bsp and .ut2 Also, if you don't like the editor you are currently using, you could just download another and try it out.

I'm sticking with Unreal Engine only because I am way to lazy to learn another. I'm looking forward to Left 4 Dead. Looks very interesting and you can't complain when it's free.

I'm pretty sure it is, unless steam decides to pick it up like Garry's Mod. Those bastards.

I highly doubt it will be free, but we can all hope. Concept wise it looks amazing, but I need to see in game footage to truly give my honest opinion.

its not free, been checking the forums on it, seen people saying they are pre-ordering it and stuff :P
Edit: just saw a fansite (the only fansite) and it said that it will be distributed via Steam for $29.99 :P So much for the awesomeness of it. Ill stick to KF
