Glad ya'll liked the link. Also, thanks for the pics Lara(forgot to say that earlier:p) Anyway I can see why they wouldn't put in bionic commando. Don't get me wrong, I loved bionic commando(very fun), but he was only in one game, and then a remake of the game on the game boy which wasn't anywhere near as fun as the old one. ANYway, while it would be cool to see him again, they seem to only use franchise characters, which adds to the appeal I guess. Still doesn't explain the lack of megaman, or, preferrably, X(just think...megaman could be a starting character and you could unlock Zero by beating the game while upside down in a fishbowl filled with cheesecake flavored jello pudding or something. It would still be easier than getting all the trophies in SSBM).

One arguement to the Bionic Commando being in one game... He really, REALLY wouldn't be the most obscure character.. the Fire Emblemers were only in one game each, and neither released in the U.S., Game and Watch (sausage!) wasn't really all that well known as a character, and Pit was only in Kid I. (unless I missed the sequel). Megaman I can understand... he's been in fighting games, he's owned by Capcom, and he probably would cost Nintendo more to buy him from CC for a bit then the whole game combined. I DON'T understand why Simon Belmont isn't in. Not like Konami didn't just give them Snake.

Actually, Fire Emblem had quite a few games in the series before the GC and melee were released. I was lucky enough to pick up a (poorly translated) rom of the first one, and it was decently fun. I figure, while they WERE only released in japan, SSBM was made there as well, so it makes sense. Eventually they made a few GBA games which were translated and sold in the U.S.; a lot of my friends loved it, but it didn't look like my style. I agree with Simon Belmont! Far as I can tell the only reason he wouldn't be in is he'd have too long a melee range, but they could just use the whip for special moves a'la shieks chain, eh? At the very least we should get dracula(EDIT: scratch that, dumb idea; no doubt they'd have to pay heavy royalties for that one, and he was a literary character before a VG character). I'd prefer Reinhart Schnieder, from the N64 version, but apparently I'm the only one who liked that game. And as for obscure characters...ICE CLIMBERS?!?! That made me stand up and say "Doubleyou, tee, eff!" I'm fairly certain they were only in one game(EDIT: wikipedia states they had a number of remakes onto various systems, which may as well have been sequels because there really wasn't a story). As for pit, never heard of him, but wikipedia said they did indeed make a sequel that nobody ever played, ever.

Macon, I actually liked the N64 versions myself... gameplay was tough, but I think the whole "watering the white roses" scene gave me chills like none other... and I LOVE the violin rendition of Richter's theme played during the title.
But Simon is like THE best known Belmont. Him and Richter maybe. I guess you could use Alucard... and about his whip range, it'd be fine, give him the crappy short leather whip, and make his smash attack the morning star or vampire killer max upgrade. Up + B could be the axe, Left/Right + B could be cross/boomerang and down + B could be the holy water. He'd make a really versatile character.
And I meant the fire emblem characters were only in one game each (I think..), not that there was only one game.
And yeah... Ice Climbers... bout as needed as nipples on a breastplate.

Actually, now that I think about it Alucard was in aria of sorrow and the DS sequal, so he counts as a nintendo character(although he DID debut on the playstation, so that's a mark against him). But yeah, if any castlevania characters worm their way in there it'll be simon.
Legacy of Darkness was my favourite castlevania of all time(they included the original game in there, so I'm just going to count them both as legacy). The hedge maze as Reinhart or Carrie was pure terror; you run through trying to find the way out, all the while being chased by immortal demon dogs and a chainsaw wielding frankenstein("But we haven't even invented chainsaws yet!" "We have.") Tons of jumping puzzles that I actually enjoyed, and carrying the explosive chemicals where you couldn't jump, fall, or be attacked or it would explode on you was more fun than it should have been.
Anyway, I hope that in the new smash bros. game and watch, the ice climbers, and jigglypuff are removed, as those just annoy me(unfortunately, chances are the climbers and the pokemon are going to stay in, but game and watch always seemed like an afterthought, so here's to hoping). Plus, I disliked the "clones," especially the ones that made no sense. I mean I can understand Dr. Mario playing exactly like normal Mario, but gannondorf only having a few moves different from captain falcon? That's just plain lazy.

Alucard most certainly did not debut on Playstation... and I'm probably dating myself with this... Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse, he was the third member (besides Sypha Belnades and Grant Dynasty) that Trevor Belmont could recruit. He'd be fine in SSB. Actually, Sypha and Grant would make interesting additions as well, come to think of it.

Right...I forgot about that. I also seem to remember him having a walk-on role in the one where you play as a female belmont(second one on the gameboy?).

Yeah, they imply that Alucard had a hand (or another organ) in creating the Belmont line... which actually is no longer considered canon. I don't play Castlevania at all. Really.
BTW Macon, if you like CV, check out the Castlevania Dungeon website... if it's still up... it's got more information then you could possibly imagine on the series...
