well the server problem is easy to solve these servers are made by people im guessing so they are running a game and a server the ping will be too high for older pc's to cope with so, 1. Make your own and wait for people to join i will if i see one, 2. Wait until we get a stable server like shit, zombies!, 3. set your netspeed options in the tracker stats and the options tab/settings
Hope tht helps people

Also if you set the RunFK.bat file to whatever 'windows' setting you are using or 'mac' os

If servers are reporting 'N/A' it means that ping requests simply take too long or are not repsonding. Could be anything from a misconfigured firewall on the server or it's just way far away. In either case I wouldnt blame the mod. Its likely latency.

Well what about the fact that some people who have this problem it doesn't really show the 'connecting to such and such' part, it just shows the main menu back ground and then if you left/right click it goes black. Is it supposed to do that, i've noticed when it happens to me that if you sit there and watch you can see the 'connecting' part flash rather fast and then disappear as if it was under the main menu screen. Was it made like that or is it messing up?

There's a 6 player limit in KF, regardless of what the server has it set to. You're probably being kicked back. If there are empty slots on the server you should get a loading screen.

Just tried again: 2/6 players, ping of 126, still couldn't connect. Looks like I'm gonna be stuck playing 1.0, eh?

Same here, going to have to play 1.0 until this is figured out or I get lucky and get on a server, only happened a few times. That's alright, I actually enjoy 1.0 more then 2.0 for some reason. I guess it just had something to do with the blood all over the maps and zombies coming at you with half decapitaded heads and such. Anyways that's off topic so back ontopic now.

Same here. I tried to join servers ranging from ping 50 to 300 (Alex´s was the latter) and, well, see above.
Another thing, though: I created a server, played for some time, was stunned by the new graphics (blabla, played1.0before, fanboystuff) and while busy dying I noticed that some people were trying to join my server. It showed "Alex joined" a few times. But they always left, even though one came far enough to join team red.
So, dunno, I´m behind a router, but it´s on dmz anyway, everything get´s forwarded to me. Then there´s the software firewall, but I tried switching that off, too, nothing new happened. Just some info.
edit: see my next post below

Nah, wasn´t expecting him to be THE Alex. By the way, little update to the above: I managed to join two servers. The first one I couldn´t join after I did something terribly stupid (In an attempt to bind a key for drop weapon I pressed Escape, which bound Escape to drop weapon and I couldn´t leave the game normally anymore), the second I played until the end, which was fun. very much fun. So, I dunno. It´s lag, or maybe it is because of the "clones", which maybe take up player space.

I'm sorry to say that this kind of bug will kill Killing Floor. So many people can't join servers. I can't join any server, I can't join the "shit! zombies" server, I can't join any server. I can't even join my own server. I click join and I get the menu map shown (but without the menu). And it stays like it. This isn't on full servers, or listen servers. It's on dedicated servers with 0 or 1 players. The really weird thing is, I've hosted servers for other UT2004 mods loads of times (including v1.0 of KF) without problems, so I thought I would try something. I brought down the console while in the main menu, and typed "open 12.338.45.66:7777" (but using the IP address of one of the servers) and it joined instantly, no problems, exactly like it should. It showed the black loading screen with white text in the centre while connecting, then the map loading screen once it was loading the map, then I was in the game. When I click on the same server in the server browser and click "join", it doesn't do this. Not a problem with the server.... sounds like the browser got messed up to me. I can join all of the servers if I use the console, but none of them if I use the browser. The bugs in 1.0 sent most of the players (including me) away; looks like the same will happen to 2.0. At least I could play the old one. Think of all the players who got these blank screens and didn't find a way around it like I did. They're gone. I know you worked hard on it, and I will probably be told that I "have no idea" etc etc (remember last time I submitted bugs and suggestions? ). But I thought it was worth mentioning that this IS a bug that quite a few people are getting, and not just bad servers.

Hi
Yes I totally agree, the Mod is awesome, but these small yet significant bugs could potentially ruin the game, there's alot of VERY impatient people out there, once tried and failed probably wont come back, which is a pity.
I agree with what Laura said too though, Alex deserves a rest for all the hard work put into the mod. I think the best idea if possible would be to continue work on the mod for at least another 2 weeks and squash these small bugs. The server join, spectate and score board bugs need to be resolved.
