Plus, the team wants a brand new storyline. What's the point of assigning a writer just to do the same basic thing?
Nah, 1.0 Single Player should stay 1.0, and 2.0 should have it's own.

Alright, looks like some clarification is necessary. I am by no means the only authority on this, but at the moment I'm the only one working on the story/levels of the SP campaign... mostly cuz I can't upload to let Doyora or Kyben work on the maps yet... but a couple of things to think about.
1. Player will definitely be anonymous. You aren't superhuman... you're a well trained soldier. Nothing special necessarily, but that's why your actions carry that much more impact. If you're extraordinary, and do extraordinary things, it's just ordinary... but if you are just a person in a situation you have no control over and are way over your head... and you do something amazing... then that is heroic... that's legendary. The anonymity serves another purpose; it opens up the game for the possibility of cooperative play.
2. I'm trying to plan out a level-by-level design, similar to Alien Swarm (in that you have to complete a level to go forward). An open ended 'sandbox' world would be awesome, but a nightmare for the plot.
3. Despite the lack of direction with level choice... I will make levels have multiple ways through them. Maybe going through the sewer will be suicidal, but if you make it through, the rest of the mission is that much easier.
4. There may be new content.
5. There will be surprises.
6. There will be blood.

I like some of the ideas! I think that different routes would be awesome, I am sure the mappers are more than capable of implementing that in?
One thing that would be nice: Optional Objectives, probably said before, But I don't feel like slavering through this thread to find out. Optional Objectives will give your squad benifets such as, better firearms, More members in your squad, the speed of your weapon fire increases, etc. Or, it will have an effect on the zombies. Less of them? They do less damage?
But these optional objectives won't be easy, It won't be the sort of "If you have 5 minutes to waste, do this objective" kinda thing.
Blood, that sounds...good. Surprises *Thumbs up*, new content, yay. \o/

but honestly for Kf each character you choose start at a different area for Kf and have a different Intro. yes this may take work but trust me it'll give people an open ended story for each character plus add some drama to Kf if you failed to save a teamate give the PPls the choice to save or let die their squad mates

Dark, more than likely there won't be individual characters. It would be a nightmare for the plot design, and impossible for cooperative play. Also, there won't be bots most likely.. they just break the suspension of disbelief and get killed far too easily... unless we can overhaul the hell out of the AI, we're just going to use scalable difficulty levels and creature numbers.

I've already started working on a draft and some maps. I got alot of cool ideas for story and all. It's less emphasis on the whole Horizon outbreak, it's about two month after the outbreak and you play as one of the DRF soldiers who got stranded behind. They couldn't manage to contain the zombies so the Army pulled out and quarintined the whole area. As you travel you will meet other survivors. Some place you go to will be in ruins but the zombies moved along long ago. I'm trying to make as much character development as possible. The trader will be a character as one of the survivors. I suck at modeling and animations so either I got to spend alot of time learning it, or I someone can help me out with some complicated animations (i.e. Trader and Player are walking and the trader has her face leaned towards the player has his head down, or a zombie studying you before he decides to attempt to devour you while you're on the floor) I also plan to have mentions to the Materson from the first single-player and the player from there. There is a dream that you have frequently in the game and as the game goes on, the dream gets worse and worse. I'm writting the draft right now, It's comming along nicely.

All these ideas sound great, but why are other ppl trying to create there own SP campaigns? Wouldnt it be a better idea if you all worked together and created a consolidated SP with ideas from all groups? That way all the creative ideas wont be forgotten and we could have an amazing SP campaign on our hands!

I think there's more than enough creativity within the group as it is now. We have had some very exhaustive discussions in the devs forums, and are getting closer and closer to a set concept.
None the less, of course, we try and listen to what people have to say, and judge weither to include it or not.

I do have to say, I would like to see the caverns level concept be used again. One of my favorite KF1 SP levels, thematically and visually.

I don't have the entire thing fleshed out, but a few points are there. You can PM Faust, Pix or me story ideas and we'll take them all into consideration. And you'll be given credit where credit is due. Just don't freak if we don't use your ideas. We're learning, we're not professionals. Go easy on us
