Hi all
I'm probably asking too soon here, but I'll go ahead anyways.
What plans do you guys have once Patch 2.11 is released? Is this the end of support for KF, or are you guys going to continue working on more fixes/updates?
What is Alex's stance on all of this, since he has moved on would he be happy to still own the mod but allow you to take responsibility, meaning you can continue to offer official patches/updates?
If all bugs have been fixed, is this the end? I hope not.
Cheers

If Alex has let the community release their own patch for it, that I am guessing is going to be the mainstream form of KF, then there would be little point in Alex coming back and claiming the community patch was his, and that they could not work on it anymore. Because...he can't Whats the point in making future plans if you still do not know if people are actually going to download the mod...and if everything is properly compatible with one another...many people will have downloaded KF 1 off filefront, and try to be hosting servers and playing with us.

Yeah thats what I'm worried about, compatibility issues. When the patch is released where is it going to be hosted from, here, filefront moddb? Is there anyway it can be added to all official download spots, that way people will download everything they need, also adding it to the official website?
I'm just worried that the community will be split in 1/2 because of this, end of the day we need to get everyone moved onto the latest version, the bugs and fixes in the current release dont necessarily ruin the game but they are very annoying, especially players who continuously use map/code exploits.
Everytime I play on whatever server I choose I announce the Community patch, most people ask about it, I then point them to the forum, its amazing that people who are out there playing dont even know the official website etc!

or, if anyone is going to be bothered learning the UT3 engine, maybe plan a successor?
Killing Floor III :P

or, if anyone is going to be bothered learning the UT3 engine, maybe plan a successor? Killing Floor III :P This has been brought up many times. I don't know about everyone else, but I firmly believe Killing Floor should die with 2k4. And I believe that Pix has stated he would host the patch for us on the main site, and if enough people like it, I'm going to ask Alex to put it on the ModDB.

KF3, haha, I dont think this will happen, not for a long time at least anyway.
I'm talking about short term plans, future patches, updates such as new weapons etc. I think this mod has a good long future ahead of itself, just because all players dont visit the forums, doesnt mean they dont exist. There are quite a few new servers popping up, players that I havent seen before, this alone should be enough to continue work on the mod. To be totally honest with you guys, I dont know why Alex left, he was pretty much 90% there with completion, what happened to the lad to make him completely abandon this amazing mod?

To be totally honest with you guys, I dont know why Alex left, he was pretty much 90% there with completion, what happened to the lad to make him completely abandon this amazing mod? Because, he dedicated I believe nearly three years of his life to this mod, working endlessly and endlessly on it to the point where he didn't have much of a life of his own. Though he created a great mod, he took too much upon himself by being the ONLY art creation member for the entire mod; so do that for 3 years and ask yourself if you really want to work on a mod anymore; no matter how good it is. Of course that's just what I think the story is, from what I've heard/been told.

3 years all by himself, now that is a accomplishment, he truly did some amazing work, plus the fact that the mod was released, most never make it out of the door (OOH).
I hope Alex is having a good time now, I really hope he is treating himself the way he deserves.
Let's hope one day he returns and plays, not work but play this mod with us guys and see how well he did, I can only dream of how good one must feel to see other people across the globe playing a mod that you created pretty much all by yourself!
**EDIT** Yeah I think I agree that KF should die with 2k4, I would love to see what could be done, but it could just end up ruining the atmosphere of KF.

We probably won't do another patch in the future, we have our own plans to move onto, and I personally have to be considering how I want to get into college soon, so that limits my time dearly, we MAY do some thing in the future, but it's doubtful. At least, for me.

Thanks for the updates on this, I totally understand why you guys want to move on, the great thing is that you decided to pretty much complete KF, a proper send of for the mod.
If you guys do decide to continue support, fantastic, if not thanks for what you have done so far, I cannot wait to play KF on the new Community Patch, and from what ppl are saying on servers I dont think they can wait either, its all positive stuff.

I can't wait to play the new patch either. Anyway for those who enjoy the KF formula of humans versus AI zombies there are other similar mods currently being developed for Half-Life 2's Source engine. Personally I like "No More Room In Hell" and "Resident Evil:Twilight" and have been watching them for some time. Both should be near completion. Sadly KF's boat is sinking and some of us need a new ship to sail. I'm not saying KF should die but it will eventually. I can't wait for this patch to be released. I'll see you all online when it is released.... unless I'm at work.
(PS. This is my forum debut and I'm not here to offend anyone. KF is and forever will be a masterpiece and a classic in my very honest oppinion. It is the jewel of many a LAN match and the lack of players online is almost tragic.)
