Ok... Could you be more specific about what you did?
I mean, simply placing the KFDemo folder in your Root UT2k4 isn't going to suddenly disrupt anything, unless you changed a file outside of there....

Same here, but I dont even play UT2K4 anymore...so pfff... What I did, was putting the KFDemo folder into the root folder first and then in a seperate one. Prolly had to do with either one or the other....and that's all I did...

Christ. Well all you have to do is take.. | KFDemo | ======== > | / UT2004 | SO NOW YOU GET! ======= ======= | UT2004\ KFDemo | ======= ======= That's a real zinger, i know...but cmon people. is it possible to do this WITHOUT "breaking" your game or does this just happen to be the DIRECT FOLDER TRANSFER of DOOM !

umm..well than your installation procedures are misleading, because i manually transferred all the files from the kf-demo folder into the ones in my original unreal2k4 directory, as far as im concerned that is what extracting a folder is supposed to accomplish. Perhaps rewording that particulair phrase would do alot to help computer challenged people such as myself.

I could really care less about UT2K4. Mods are what makes it great. ;D

Yeah sorry mate
We've been working with UT2k4 and it's mod structures for so long a time it's second nature for us
basically ANY mod needs to be in the root dir
the FOLDER i mean
so if i had red orchestra it would be
UT2004\Red Orchestra\
and nothing outside that folder pertaining to the mod.

As soon as you guys implement an installer, this shouldnt be a problem.

^ true, the href tag doesn't seem to work.
Am I the only one against an installer. I gerenally find zip (even moreso, rar) compress much better and extract faster. The lack of a readme (w/ install instructions) probably led to so many install issues but in truth it's only as simple as extracting the file into your root 2k4 dir. No batch copying files to already existing folders and playing musical chairs. I'm probably jumping the gun since it's probably already been decided to release umod+zip versions but installers of any type would really alienate the linux portion of the community. Being mp making it easy to install on servers should be noted.

My problem with going ZIP is that we have to have people do the thing where they manage their own shortcuts, and I hate making people do that, instructions or no. With an installer, we can build the shortcuts at runtime, and that's huge to me, as well as prompt people to put one on their desktop. The NSI thing I'm looking at has pretty good compression, I believe, but we'll check it. If it's too outrageous, then I guess we'll have to go zip.... RAR would be nice, but it probably won't happen, since ZIP is considerably more common.

NSI installer? I'm guessing that's exe. A desktop shortcut is pretty trivial compared to cross platform compatability. No offense to the ppl that had trouble w/ the demo but I'd really recommend making a zip version if nothing else for the ppl that know what they're doing. An exe only release is going to create a lot more complaints than the demo install issues, even a umod only release would turn a lot of ppl off. While using an installer is nice bc it takes care of all the worries and work it's useless to those of us who dont use Windows.

We'll probably end up doing zip
AND installer.
Most mods do this anyhow. And yeah, me personally? I love how easy it is to just plunk the folder from zip to UT2004 root.
But some people obviously aren't as familiar with TC protocol in the Unreal engine so it trips them up.

nope, im pretty sure its not mozzila compatible, however the site itself is a pop up, so if you have a pop up blocker that would be the reason why it doesnt show up.
