Hi all
Just another quick question, its not specifically to do with KF but is most likely one of the most vital parts of the game.
What application do you guys recommend to use for online in game voice chat?
I have seen many different applications, Roger Wilco, TeamSpeak, Ventrilo and Skype. I want the best application for the following:
Voice Quality - best if possible Compatibility - To work in KF (other games as well) Ease of use - Not too complicated for the gamers Efficient - Not too CPU hungry
Application to be used both Online and LAN gaming.
Thanks

I would suggest Ventrilo. Running a test on Teamspeak vs. Ventrilo i found that Ventrilo used only 1k of memory vs. the 10k that teamspeak used. Also Ventrilo sounds clearer than Teamspeak. The downside is Ventrilo takes a little bit to get used to due to it being more complicated than teamspeak.

Ventrillo has always lagged more for me, being a 3 second time span before the message you send reaches the other person.
TS has worked better for me. So I'd reccomend it.

Go on your roof and scream what you're going to say, saves space and you can get some sun rays too 8)

I suggest Ventrilo. But I found Teamspeak easier to learn.

I've successfully used them both... TS is way easier though. Vent isn't bad, good sound quality, but damn complicated

Cheers guys, I will test em all out. So far its looking like teamspeak, I want the best in terms of quality and ease of use.
Once tested I will start up a new TS server and KF ded server, cant promise that it'll be the best connection tho, Im only on 2mb/256 ADSL, but everytime I host a server it seems like people like it alot. I'll prob wait until the patch has been released tho before I do this.
Keep up the good work Faust, its truly amazin that you have done so much in so little time. Glad to know that Alex and co are still working on further additions to the game as well.

well when i was playing with zero last night i found that ts was very laggy, we then switched to using the voice com on xfire and it was perfect. ive aint really tried vent too much but when i did it ran ok with decent quality and hardly any ram usage. but i have found ts is never at good quality on my pc:(

I could always understand Ian, Grim and Abyx mostly fine... Faust was really broken up for some reason though. Abyx had his moments. Probably just a connection thing. I hadn't thought of using Xfire though... anyone up for testing?

I might re-consider Xfire again sometime, being as last time I tried it, it lagged my comp to hell.

XFire? Is that the game utility thats like Steam? Looks good, but kinda bloated for what I need. Anyone ever tried Roger Wilco? I tested this the other night online and it was OK, not the best sound quality kinda like HL in game voice chat, it was sooo easy to setup and use though.

yeh xfire is a very handy game utility it tells all ur friends on it who is playing what game and what server. you can chat to ur mates ingame using it so unlike msn you dont find you have 2 or more conversation windows who are trying to talk to ya. i might try vent again when i get home from work if i remember.

BTW does the UT2004 built in voice chat work? Whenever I try to use it it doesnt seem to work that well, is there some sort of guide on how to set this bloody thing up? The HL mods all have their own in built voice chat that seems to be very easy to setup and use.

In-game Voice chat sucks IMO.

And it's disabled in KF.
