Tonight I decided to end my break and "research" (counterstrike) and finally begin work on the buy menu for weapons/stuff. I've never done anything with the Unreal GUI before, so it might take a bit of time, but I managed to get a foothold this evening. To keep you guys up-to-date on what all I'm up to, I got an okay from alex to put up a little "progression of a buy menu" page tracking my progress, complete with screenshots. It's up right now, with my first night's work on it at killingfloor.pmods.net/progression.htmlPlease be warned- I'm not an HTML-literate person and have never claimed to be. The page is ugly and I'm okay with that.

Hey man! Looks nifty so far And You know.. I would have no problems with make a CUSTOm skin for the menu to add some flavor, if you could code it to overlay on top of that gray stuff.

Will we be getting money for each zombie we kill? Actually, that'd be an interesting angle for the mod: You play as mercenaries getting paid per kill.

i think the idea of survivors is better. maybe getting xp for the amount of time/waves survived? xp=knowledge of how to use bigger badder guns to survive with? so you can still progress if you dont survive a round, just slower. or until the round is over your a zombie trying to take your other team members out. and survivors would lose xp if a team member killed them as its demoralising, but the zombie gets extra xp so he wouldnt just sit in a corner doing jack so the rest of his team can have an easy time. maybe extra xp for the survivor that kills the zombie teammate to to give an incentive to hunt them down and put them to rest? the player zombies would be easily identifiable cause you limp like a zombie, but still have your mask on or something? the ultimate weapon would of course have to be the Big Daddy Chainsaw. and a boomstick ;D im sure i have a few bruce campbell sound clips somewhere if you want some taunt .ogg's. gives players an aim to. get the chainsaw and cause carnage, but once you get it you go into a "bloodlust" and you have to keep moving. and FF becomes turned on for that weapon/player so you just become a psycotic chainsaw weilding madman. if you get to crazed the other players can take you out and put you to peace before the zombies do. hehe, manical chainsaw weilding zombie. might not be implimentable, but would be cool. sorry if its a bit of a fractured post, i went through and inserted bits when i thought of things.

I like the idea of a chainsaw
*scratches chin as to what will be the next weapon, with a knowing smile *
Btw, right now the "points" are just that, points. But we could always call it XP or whatnot.
What is known is thise - you gain it by killing zombies - you lose it by dying - it is individual, not team based.
you will be able to purchase weaponry and equipment with it, and yes, the badass stuff is gonna cost more than the weaker stuff, but all things will be useful. There is no "total shit" guns, because each tier of zombie can be defeated with a corresponding weapon. Obviously the Tougher ones are gonna take different tactics thogh.

whoops, yeah i got excited and forgot what my english teacher told me about paragraphs. on the subject of weapons, a thought occurs. instead of total shit -> bad ass etc. different ranges and different tactics. so chainsaw would obviously be good against a big wall/group of zombies/infected/whatever with wide swings. but would be not great against single targets as its to slow. you could have the knife as you already have, and baseball bats with nails through etc for different tacticas and situations. i can hear it now, "batter up" if its an individual thing as opposed to teamwork. is there someway to work in a paranoia system, so people who get to upclose and personal with zombies and take hits are infected but dont turn imediatly, hp drain or what not, and everyone gets panicky as to who is infected which leads to them turning on each other as would happen in a real life sitch. gotta grab some sleep now (uk time ) might think about it and expand some more and see if i can explain myself better tomorrow

nuthin wrong with low tech weapons...makes it more realistic...ur not going to see the average soldier running around with a hole bunch of diff type of rifles...usually they have thier main assault secondary then last resort...it wouldnt surprise me in this kind of a situation if military started using civi weapons like hunting rifles or chainsaws to lessen the ammo drain on thier more potent weapons like bullpup...and besides...its a freakin chainsaw...A FREAKIN CHAINSAW!!! ;D

Another fairly impressive update- met my goal early so I could go visit my folks. Tomorrow will be the best of all, though. I have this feeling. *grins*
