Build UT2004_Build_[2005-11-23_16.22]
OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600) CPU: AuthenticAMD Unknown processor @ -648 MHz with 1022MB RAM Video: ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 (6614)
General protection fault!
History: AActor::UpdateRenderData <- Camera myLevel.Camera23 <- FActorSceneNode::Render <- DrawStaticMeshBrowser <- REN_StaticMeshBrowser <- UUnrealEdEngine::Draw <- (Cam=StaticMeshBrowser,Flags=164481 <- UWindowsViewport::Repaint <- WBrowserStaticMesh::RefreshStaticMeshList <- WBrowserStaticMesh::RefreshAll <- WBrowserMaster::RefreshBrowser <- WBrowserMaster::RefreshAll <- WEditorFrame::OnCommand <- WWindow::WndProc <- WWindow::StaticProc <- UEditorEngine::Exec_Map <- UEditorEngine::Exec <- (MAP LOAD FILE="C:\UT2004\KFMod20\Maps\KF-Hotel(working on).ut2") <- UUnrealEdEngine::Exec <- WEditorFrame::OnCommand <- WWindow::WndProc <- WWindow::StaticProc <- MessagePump <- MainLoop
Unless someone can fix whatever this error is...without access to the actual editor (it won't alow me to open the level in the editor) KF-Hotel will die.

Take your pair of paranthesis and throw them onto the fire. Then try again.

Delete your KFmod.ini and KFmoduser.ini don't worry, it will automatically re-create one next time you open KF or the editor.
then try again...

Tried both of those, still have the error. It won't open the map

And it crashes.
Goto UT2004/maps/ and load one of the autos, IE: auto1.ut2; auto2.ut2 etc. They are the progressive autosaves of your map.

Unfortunately I mapped on another map...which seems to have taken up all the autosave files. This keeps looking more and more grim.

Honestly sorry to hear it Maul. Too late to advise you about incremental backups. I always do 2 separate saves per session + saves as I go in each session. There's always the "autos" as well.
Gothic had an unrecoverable crash (result of my fiddling with emitters in realtime mode). Several other errors too which meant backtracking thru saves.
Glad you can move on tho and I look forward to your new map.

haha, chances are I won't touch the editor for a loooong time now...Alex has said that when he gets back from Ireland he will have a look in some programs and see if there is a way to delete conflicting stuff externally, if it works then this map will see the light of day, if it doesn't then I suppose all that hard work will have been for naught, however alot was learned along the way. I guess if enough demand is made for KFS-Carnival then I'll go ahead and move on despite casualties.

Ohright, so you can still get on the editor then? its the map that is giving you problems?
what was the last thing you installed on the map? Its most likely to be an actor you added. Or some code you've messed with.
Have you made any packages you might need to open before you open the map?
Have you included files in the MyLevel properties?

I've messed with absolutely no code at all. Don't know what I'm doing in that area. I'll assume its some corrupt statics in the Mylevel package. Its the map alone that has problems, I haven't fucked up the entire editor.

This may sound stupid but if it is a mylevel issue all I can think of is notepad. Open the map in notepad and remove everything that refers to mylevel manually.

i've tried doing external deletes and things, through code editing proggies, but I really don't know what I'm doing, I think its probably best to just leave it to Alex, if he can then yay, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm already looking for source material on Carnivals.

So whats happening here maul, looks to be that you've tried to import a custom staticmesh and you've gone and made a hash of it. Something is supremely fucked about one of your statics, and when the StaticMeshBrowser attempts to render it, or even load the thing, it throws a man-sized wobbly and the whole thing comes crashing down. It's so bad, in fact - That KF can't even start up with your map in ANY map folder (root UT OR KFmod) because when the game tries to auto generate a UCL for your map, it can't.
The map CAN be opened up in a text editor (context recommended) and you can see a list of stuff in english, names of staticmeshes, and packages. I dont know if anything can be affected positively here, but it would help if I knew the EXACT names of your custom meshes, and when they were placed (ie. Would it be StaticMeshActor1 or StaticMeshActor233 etc in your asset list. They are automatically named , in order of creation.
Not looking good, in any event. In the future, if you're going to add custom stuff, and alot of it, just make an external package and bundle it with your map in a rar file when you release. Also, if possible keep backups.

Im sorry to here the problem,But i might be able to help. Unrealed with KF is just normal unrealed run with KF actors and more with it try going to C:/ut2004/system and delete unrealed.int and unrealed.u NOTE:make a backup first, just incase something terrible goes wrong! try that, though i dont know if it will work, and im sure theres something else OH,be careful with the notepad editing,MAKE a backup of your map as it is before manual editing,as its very easy for something to go wrong.

Ok well, The only custom statics, you can count them on one hand. I made two sets of stairs, and a platform from some brushes. So they would be fairly recent. They will be the ones causing conflict. I am positive of that now. The light that I moved obviously just was at that exact same moment when the editor decided to say nup fuck ya. For the record, I deleted whatever lines of code i found in the notepad that were 'Mylevel' in case that was the problem, tuns out that did shit.
