The weirdness of biotics has spread deep into the countryside and so arises KF-Gothic.------------------------------- NOTE: NEW DOWNLOAD LOCATION WITH MISSING SOUNDFILE FIXED: Version2 of KF-GothicV2 doesn't require aobugsounds.uax www.savefile.com/files/1200288 --
So, KF-GothicV2 just needs copying to the maps folder.
My apologies for messing you around with this----------------------------- Map play should offer something for everyone. Scenery, country walks; swimming; caving; friends and cosy fireside chats. It's a big map here are a few pics of the area: The area is well signposted so you won't get lost very often. The expanse of caves are a point of interest and inhabited by a species of bats, but novice cavers should beware. If the caves are too much for you, there's always a stroll in the moonlight Swimming by moonlight can be refreshing. The house, a welcoming sight on a dark night. Naturally the house's grounds are dotted with minefields and other explosives to ensure your safety. The house is a place of high art and dilligent study, even the study of spiders for those interested. Welding too. The house is patriotic, but the friendly staff welcome everyone because every culture has interesting flavours. Finally fireside chats with friends, but disagreements will happen. Besides the above there are flying creatures and spiritual contacts for anyone who's interested. The house is ancient so there are traps, step carefully.

Chainsaw have always existed on Killing Floor 2.11 as far as I know. I can spawn it via AdminPlus mutator. Also it exist on a few maps. Don't know wich maps by the way.

Thanks, the map works perfectly now I got lost despite the signposts, and I think the map is too big. time between killing two zombies is expended, and the rhythm of the game suffers of that. I also had some lags in front of the trader. There are a lot of good effects like ghosts or secret area, but I'm not so fan of this map. Test tomorrow on my LAN...

Very creative!
It has nothing much to do with the Killing Floor theme, but as a work after say ... Tim Burton, this is mint! I love the little touches like the flying bats and sound effects!
Cool stuff! ;D

all the effects and spooky things are genius ;D but play wise, maybe imbalanced a bit as map is large, there's effectively "super weapons" laid around, xbow + hunting shotgun although the enemy did chase me all the way to the roof of the house, i stood on the slopey roof and they didnt know what to do didnt get that far, but fleshpounds might not be able to get through caves, as i caught my head a few times in the tunnels

New modified download with offending soundfile removed: www.savefile.com/files/1200288 KF-GothicV2 I'm sorry to mess you all around. I had fun making this map, but yes it's just a bit too large, my next map will be smaller. I'm learning as I go. I figured with Gothic that players could choose their difficulty -- stay in the house or wander the countryside and even the tunnels. Each area has variations of difficulty. There is lag as the player approaches the house, some near the bridge and I found this eases as map play continues. I guess system memory starts to anticipate and the lag eases. But yes smaller map next time. The chainsaw is a favourite weapon of mine. I hope the next KF has one. I notice here a definite the interest in the chainsaw. The tunnels, yes a problem. I was enlarging the static meshes of the tunnel a second time and they went screwy. They flipped around the map and would not be placed. I deleted them and imported them again, fiddled around, but no change, weird. I saw that the larger monsters could make it through the tunnels, just, and this is an advantage for the player -- same as the gutters around the roof of the house -- a shall I, shan't I situation during mapmaking. So I decided to place gutters for people to stand on. If most of you guys (I mean girls too of course) want a foolproof map with no escapes, that's np, I can try to make my next map like that. KF-Theme, I had hoped I'd persuade you that biotics made the weird effects of ghosts and dragons

Hmm, sounds a little funky. you know - map size does not necessarily have alot to do with lag, there are ways of optimizing your map. See some Angelmapper tutorials for optimization. And don't move on from a map if it needs adjusting! Keep working on it until its so good you could slot it in with the defaults and not know the difference. Thats my idea, one awesome map is better than three semi-good maps. Its the quality that counts not the quantity. Best of luck.

The readme of KF-Gothic and V2 credit Angelmapper at the top of the alphabetical list. Map size does necessarily have everything to do with lag. The larger the map, the heavier. It's simple numbers. KF-Gothic is extremely well optimized within the limits of UED. I could have used split zones, but with UED, in the end, who knows.
As I said I aimed at a fun map and for what I intended it works. "Quality over quantity," hmmm, I would appreciate that comment more if you played my map and in saying that I hope I don't piss you off so you won't play it!
You may know that any mapper even with a half-decent map hasn't spent a week or two assembling and that's it, publish, oh no, not with UED. There are builds and rebuilts, makes and remakes. The mapper using UED has to balance their love with the pain and UED has a lot of pain to give. Then there's hours hunting docs, some of which are total bollocks, out-of-date or in some way, a tiny bit wrong -- just enough to matter. Sure there are good docs, but mix that with UEDs weird errors and a solo mapper gets frayed. And OK, explanations for UEDs weird errors will be found. Although a mapper will ask, is life long enough for this shit, and then in the end who gives a crap anyway?
So for a solo mapper it's balancing love vs pain. If UED hasn't bitten your ass yet, it will. That's not a threat or 'I'll tell you', it's just what UED does. I just hope when it bites you, you stick with the love of mapping, because I for one will want to play your map. I enjoy originality and invention. I'll know what you'll have been through to actually publish your map. And if you're a mapper with questions, ask around, there's no shame in that.
There are some mappers who count every bullet a player must use, and every step. I do that too, but I prefer to give the player the edge. I like loopholes, player advantage and lots of bullets, but that's just me. I could have done a small safe map, but I like challenges and pushing UED to its limits.
So with bullets and advantage in mind, I hope you download KF-GothicV2 and give it a whirl. And the maps of other mapmakers, give them a chance.

Oh I no the Editor is a royal cunt don't you worry!! I'm building a map that I'm trying to make as true to Alex's original theme and 'feeling' as possible while still being original within the context. I do allow other mappers a chance, however I've played alot of extremely high quality maps constructed in the Unreal Editor for vanilla 2k4 so having seen what is possible and stumble upon the maps in the Solar map-pack is quite depressing. However the talent behind some of the maps is definate, Kyben for example is an extremely talented mapper who makes Maps almost on par with Alex, perhaps with an extended period of torturous adjustment they could well be better than those. The problem i feel is the lack of mappers. Period. There is maybe a handful of individuals who map for this mod, and then a handful of people who will appreciate it. Which is why it is probably harder for a mapper to convince themself to continue to utter completion when really the modding community won't be impacted that much. Raising the bar will force those who do want to map for this mod to pay attention to what is fun and what isn't and increase dynamics so that the few who get to enjoy it REALLY enjoy it. No you didn;t piss me off, but really, I mean honestly did you download the Solar-map pack and go WOW ALL OF THESE ARE SO AWESOME!! HOW DID THEY DO THAT!?! No. You probably responded in much the same way that I did "dubble-yoo. tee. eff" lol. I definately will play the map don't you worry, and I will give you a nicely detailed review, and I'm not a biased reviewer don't you worry. Seeing as how I'm an amateur mapper myself I can understand the pains of construction and rebuilding. If Alex gives you kudos for it...you must have worked some magic...
