I see earlier you mentioned making static meshes and I guess you know that all the advice is 'don't' in UED. I do (I have no 3dMax &C) and because static meshes are 99% safer than BSP.
In UED make something (preferably in a separate map from your main). In construction, you can use ONLY additive, no subtractive. Next, highlight your construction in a 2d window and rightclick, choose 'convert to static mesh.' Next, save it to mylevel > choose group name and choose SM name. Then insert the made SM into your level, otherwise it won't be found the next time you load UED. Same as textures, use it or lose it.
The only problems I've found with SMs is 'flapping textures' where I've overlapped intersections, so I try to avoid that. Otherwise during in-level contruction, I just add another static mesh to cover bad flaps. I've read that the problem with UED meshes is they make too many polys, but until I master Blender (an opensource alternative to Max and Maya) I live with heavy poly counts and flaps.
Problem at the moment with my red builder brush. I made the big mistake of 'reset all' which totally screws the brush. Now it makes odd sizes, IE: 64x64x64 looks like 128x64x64. I got around it by halving one of the 64s. That worked ok on a water volume but when I did an antiportal, it made the right size. Don't ya just love UED!?
In your map I have survived to the 6th or 7th wave and went to the very end only to be chopped up -- I wondered, what is that line coming down the corridor towards me -- zappo!
I only survived to the hard levels because of the addbots. The bots keep the zombies occupied, lurking behind one of the big side doors, so I shot from the shadows near the trader and had a turkey shoot. So the map even works great for crap players like me.
A moving train sounds interesting. I've thought about moving stuff myself. The train like everything else in your map looks so realistic. Nice work!

Ahhh ... the CamaraTextureClient was'nt for you my friend That was a reply to Mr.Med. Although i should of wrote your names in the post But yes indeedy, i create SMs' in the same level im running on. What kind of machine are you running on? UT needs resources ... and if you ain't got them ... it won't like it! Ahhh the laser ... yes about that ... it needs adjusting. Your all stuck with at the moment with the alpha which is full of poo. I have made adjustments on everything so far. All the errors RoBoT found have been corrected ... he will just have to look for more when i release Beta. Im working on the map right this moment ... stay tuned! Thats all fokes!

Hey Kicker,
Nice work...I've just started downloading the Alpha to give it a go because judging from the feedback and the Screenies this one both looks and plays well. But it also sounds like it would fit waaaaay better with the new Story-Mode gametype in KF 2.5, I definately think you should hold off until Alex releases the coding or whatever so you can get rid of zombie timers and just have event triggers spawning zeds. Thats what I would do anyway. Because Although Tower was good, I believe that being somewhere "halfway" between the two gametypes is not the way to go. Stick to one or the other to ensure its of the best quality. Thats my idea.

Kicker, just played the map...and Oh boy do you have something special here. A few obvious bugs evident of the fact that this is an early Alpha but aside from these it is a wonderous work in progress. Overall I have three main gripes with this map that I feel you should address - one of them is the overlapping railings on the stairs.
The second is the horrible texure on the doors...half of them are not even operable so it really does not seem necessary that they have such an odd texture. Also indicating buttons should be red or non-existant for control panels the character(s) does not have access to. Aside from these centrally visual complaints this is a work of art - I definately encourage you to keep going with this project. Simply put - if it comes down to it I would pay you to finish this simply because I would have so much enjoyment out of the final version.
Ps - The Red-Queen defence system is cool, but is it possible to obtain more "glow" to the lazer? Perhaps make it a moving light source as well as the deadly mover - attach a blue light to it.. That would be the coolest. Also - what is the story to this level...how does the Umbrella Hive tie in with the Horzine incident? I'd love to know the story to this map...maybe Umbrella and Horzine are simply different branches of the same company?

Thanks for the feedback on the doors. Il be sure to have a review on the doors for when Beta comes out. As for the overlapping gates, they can be fixed easy! I like the idea with the "Red Light" on the areas you can not go (elsewhere being normal green) I will definatly put that in! Since Alpha i have added more to the laser room. Its actually dark blue with a light glow. Story line is going to be a popped bubble. Simply put, im not best at telling stories! I suppose what i could do is merge it with a piece of map (like CityWide) for example and make it Change map to that level. (providing i get permission from the map owner) NOW that would be cool! I will fish around for more textures. PS: Has MadMax made some beastie music for you

Yeah I think a great idea would be to somehow make the maps join together, have the story go across multiple maps. For example, start in Manor:
Chopper crashes, you hold out as long as you can etc etc. You win, move onto London, etc etc.
However, I think the story maps should be the only ones to link.

Good news guys, ive done a large test on the map and it is almost ready. Just one more part to the map (train exit) and it is ready for Beta.
I have no idea what to do in the final version!? It will prob have all the bug fixes and stuff!
I am pleased to inform you that "The Hive" is now a complete Objective Based game.
If you do not complete your mission, you will eiether be staying in there for 4-7 hours waiting for the specimens to die. OR The next door to your escape will not open!
I could eiether release Beta tomorow or Friday. I am working at it right now!

Final version is all about adding visuals I believe, making it look so good and run so well that people should be paying you. Also, can I write the official story for the map?!!? I am a storyteller by trade, I've written several short stories and am working on a novel currently sitting at 132,000 words. And yes it does have zombies in it. If anyone needs a story. Thats my freaking job. I'd ask Alex if I could write the official plot out if but he'd probably just make another freaking competition out of it like the promo trailer...lol.
