Best online radio I know of is last.fm. You'll need to download the application, but after that you can just enter a tag like "folk" or "pop" or "rock" or "brutal death metal" and it'll play everything that's been tagged as that. Or you can enter an artist and listen to all their similar artists. Plus if you set it up to monitor your listening habits, you can.. well, monitor your listening habits. Oddly enough. Over time, it'll give you recommendations based on your overall music.

Just typing in the name of an artist or music type and then being presented a fitting stream sounds awesome, though. Paranoia vs. Awesomeness (Paranoia wins ... Fatality!)

Over time, it'll give you recommendations based on your overall music. I use it every now and then. It's very reliable, it finds most of the obscure tags to. Japanese music for example. It also supports your "Most recent tracks", in an image. So you can post it on forums, or embed it in a website, etc. If you look in the "Song thread", you will find it.

Well, by the looks of it, you can stream directly from the site.. never tried it (didn't even go to the front page when I linked to it =P) so I dunno how effective it is.
I haven't tried gaming while the radio was playing; if you have a slow connection or not enough memory, that might be causing the sound thing.
Madmax, a little odd that it was crashing.. extremely odd, actually. I've never had a problem with it. But not like that points to much (except that I'm awesome).

Well with Winamp it would just crash constantly and Windows Media just kept kicking up a stink about it so I gave up.
