Hey KF Team, that suxorz about the bugs. We know you've been working hard to finally get this baby off the ground. I hope everything comes together soon, for your sake as much as wanting to play it myself.
Peace.

I appreciate that.
For those of you who understand what REPLICATION is, with the UT engine, you may begin to understand the kind of problems facing us atm.
It's nothing that can't be fixed, but Replication is a nasty, nasty little problem when it comes to Net-games.

Replication basicly changes how things react/exist durring online play. If there's something wrong w/ it, it can result in things not being there or doing things drastically different than they would durring offline play.

Cheers for the condolensces and sorry guys for the further delay. Some newer aspects of the game which Slinky coded were taken as given to be replicated properly before the MP test, but this wasnt so. Basically the game actually works fine in MP if you are the host, its the clients which are effected. These might seem like newb issues, but when you have a large codebase, continuous bug fixing and ppl working on different builds of the game which cant link up in MP as well as real life schedules its hard to coordinate a proper MP test. Alex really wanted a game for you by friday and we worked hard for it, but unfortunately this replication issue will need some time to fix.

bingo.
The upside is, while I wait on Gareth for the replication issues, I've got time to beautify other areas of the game, and make more general improvements that wouldn't have otherwise made it in the First release.

Hey Alex sorry about the bugs I can imagine you feel the same way I did when I got headbutted by a midget in the balls.... Anyhoo I was wondering seeing as how the multiplayer version is currently a no go how about just releasing the single player portion and at a later date when a fix has been made for the multiplayer you might be able to release a patch. Just a thought...

Releasing the whole thing together as a finished and polished mod is the best thing to do. I do not like the idea of using the delay to add more stuff. That will more than likely delay the release even further. Then you run the risk of fans losing interest, development slows to a crawl, and you eventually pull the plug or rush out something bugged to hell.

But Madmax its important to understand that the single player portion itself is bug free and ready for distribution releasing it now can in no real way further delay things and if anything at all it would increase interest in the mod and gather further media exposure which would in turn attract more people and as ive stated before once a viable patch for the multiplayer portion is released it can be distributed via online.

In the end, for better or worse of the mod, the decision's up to Alex.
I personally agree with him, every time I release something, I want it to be as bug-free as possible. But looking from an engineers standpoint, you have quality, speed, and budget.
Since they arent getting paid or using too much out of their pockets, its down to quality or speed. Would you rather have a fully working and tested version a little late, or a buggy and semi-tested version early?

I want this out the door, MadMax.
I thought I had made that as plain as possible. Im not sitting here tapping my chin going "ho hum , well it's going to be delayed anyway so why not make 5 new levels, 10 new zombies, and 40 new weapons with my time".
What im doing is, waiting for Gareth to correct the replication problem, and fixing issues like
1. crashes 2. annoying glitches 3. buggy animations or mismatched art assets 4. simple game balance issues.
all of those things are hugely important, and contribute to the overall experience players will have. But no, they will not be things that draw the mod's development on for months and months
that's the last thing me, or any of my team, wants.

All i can say is that you and the rest of the team are doing such a great job. I know if i had money (im poor ) i would donate money. If you want i can save some money up and donate as a gift (though after like say 20 bucks turned to american money, its like what, 10 bucks ) Anyway, im happy that you guys are taking your time to work on this prize winning mod. I just hope i get enough courage like you guys to get my mod started oh and btw, when i finaly get my site done, you guys could use me as a mirror if you need it

Alex, that's all I wanted to hear. I can't tell you how many times a mod (not just random bullshit mods, but ones I was really interested in) mysteriously missed their release dates, promised to add more goodies to please fans, then drops off the radar for a year.
